Hotel Help Please =]

I just booked a cruise on the Norwegian Star today. I was told this ship uses the Port of Los Angeles. Can anyone suggest a hotel? In what area should I be looking for a hotel? I have never been to LA, so I have no clue where to even begin. We will be staying one night before and one night after the cruise. It would be great to find a hotel that actually had a shuttle to and from the pier. Thanks in advance for your help!

You want either the Crowne Plaza LA Harbor or the Doubletree Hotel in San Pedro. Both can be had on Priceline through bidding. Presently they seem to be going for about $75-80 on Priceline. If you bid on a 3.5 star in San Pedro (and only San Pedro) you Will get one of these hotels for half price, at today's rates. Both have shuttles to the pier and parking privileges. You can take a shuttle like super shuttle directly to the hotel from LAX (the most logical airport in time, schedule and shuttle fare IMHO). That should take care of you.
