As a Melbournite, I appreciate DAWN PRINCESS basing itself here for a few months around Christmas as it does continual cruises to and back from New Zealand.

BUT.... surely it can go to more places? It did go to the South Pacific (Noumea etc) two years ago, but it was only a few cruises. Wonder what the plans are for coming years.... how about circumnavigation of Tassie, how about Adelaide and back, how about Brisbane and back? food for thought Princess Cruises?

Also, just heard Queen Mary 2 will visit Melbourne for the first time in 2012 as the grand queen does a circumnavigation around Oz.... you won't be able to get near Station Pier.... there'll be 1000s of people there to have a look!!

Totally agree. We did a cruise to the South Pacific 3 years ago on Sun Princess from Melbourne and went to New Zealand on Dawn Princess in January. It would be a good idea if they alternated cruises ie. New Zealand one cruise, South Pacific next. Do believe tho that they should have mainly South Pacific Cruising during Peak School Holiday Period, as this is the time when families go and the warmer climate does attract more people. On our New Zealand cruise in January, our children found the kids club on Dawn very boring and not having the weather to be able to go swimming, was even worse. Also, New Zealand cruises tend to attract more elderly passengers than younger ones.

I think so as not to canibalise their own parent company ships. They will leave the South pacific market to P&O and Carnival. They will leave Princess a more upmarket ship to match to more upmarket clientele they service to New Zealand.

What they fail to reliase is that you , I and many others want more choice on Princess other that one or two cruises to South Pacific and the rest just New Zealand.
