ponstad Posted January 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2005 A group of us are planning a South American cruise this December and are contemplating booking our own air. Many of the most affordable flights to and from Latin America use the Miami Airport as a hub. Domestically, many of the most affordable flights use the Fort Lauderdale Airport. So my question, then: what is the best way to get from one of these airports to the other? Is there shuttle service? A limo? Taxi? How much time should we allow to get from one airport to the other? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.
CaptData Posted January 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2005 Allow at least an hour (it's about a 30 minute drive with little traffic). Cheapest way depends on how many. Limo for a group of four can be cheaper then two cabs. Do not forget enhanced security at airports now.
SPI_Rick Posted January 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2005 Many cruise lines offer a transfer service to and from MIA and Port Everglades. These can be booked on your cruise lines web site or through your travel agent. There are also airport shuttles that you can hire. You should make reservations in advance for the shuttles. For example: SuperShuttle offers MIA to Port Everglades transfers for $23 per person. The MIA website indicates that a taxi to Port Everglades cost approximately $70.
