hi,

my husband and I decided for the day at the caymans we would just relax on the beach. here are my questions

what beach? I have heard good things about royal palms...

should we book the beach day with rccl? its 35 per person. offers ride and chairs. but i am thinking its proably cheaper to just take a bus or taxi and buy our own chairs, right?

what about the money, can you pay with a credit card in the cab and at the beach? if not do you need to convert the money over??

lastly, how much a jet skis to rent?

thanks everyone!! we leave in may and I am so excited! never been to the Caymans before. any tips are much appericated!

Royal Palms and Sea Grape are two great sections of Seven Mile Beach that make for an awesome DIY beach day. Taxi is about $4-6 per person each way. (Have exact change for your group's fare and they'll love you!) Chair rentals are about $7 each, umbrellas are about $10...and you can avoid those costs if you don't need the shade or are happy just throwing a towel down on the sand. Restrooms, showers, changing areas are free. Watersports rentals are available and prices vary...jetskis are usually around $65 US for a half hour (single) or $85 US for a half hour (double).

If the ship excursion only offers transportation and chairs, you're paying way more.

Cayman is one of the few places I would say you're better off not going with a ship excursion. It's a very safe island and the DIY excursions are much cheaper.

US currency is widely accepted, although if you use a large bill you will likely get Cayman dollars back as your change. There is a fixed exchange rate, $1.25 US for $1 CI. Prices may be in US or CI, so check first. Stores and restaurants will take credit cards, taxis likely won't.
