cyndiehabs Posted March 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2010 How is Celebrity for kids (11, 14, 15, 17)? We are used to Royal Freedom class but like the itineraries better for Europe on Celebrity (especially Greek Isles). Any idea if there are lots of kids on these sailings in the summer? Kids worry more about having friends to hang out with than rock climbing etc. Celebrity just doesn't seem to push the "family cruise". Any thoughts? Onessa Posted March 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2010 X has a teen club for the over 12 set -- In my experience my DD (14YO) is generally happy if there are just a couple of girls her age to hang with. She met two or three other girls near her age on our November Solstice cruise in the Med and was blistfully happy -- they swam, played lawn games, and all but worshiped at the Hot Glass Shows. There were plenty of free on-demand movies. They avoided the teen club because they had allowed a couple of pre-teens to age up into the teen club -- including two really obnoxious pre-teen girls ("one on them was wearing Hannah Montana earrings for goodness sake" DD's friend complained :D) Most European cruises are pretty port intensive and DD accompanies us on-shore so she doesn't generally have a whole lot of time on-board with her friends. We've done the Med the past three years and she loves it.
