Brilliance 12nt Med Venice - too port intensive for small children?

BWP, with that added information I would say you should go for it. A 40th wedding anniversary is nothing to scoff at - and you will have family to help you out with the youngest.

Yes, be aware that you may not be able to do every single tour that you want. But the opportunity to spend time together as a multi-generational family is priceless.

Do you have a family babysitter? It might make sense to have someone take the cruise with you to babysit. The downside would be the plane ticket and the extra person fee, but I am assuming you might have at least two cabins for 2 adults and 3 children anyway.

Again, I have no clue about this because I have zero children, but am trying to help you think outside the box.

From what you've said, it is too good an opportunity to miss. Go for it. If you go armed knowing that you might not be able to see/do everything then you'll be fine. Sounds like it is fantastic opportunity for the whole family to be together. There is enough of you that people can take turns in looking after the kids I am sure. It is a 12 day sailing which helps as you have more time to relax that than the 7 day sailings from Barcelona when everyone is trying to cram everything in over a short period.

The only other thing to consider is Independence out of Southampton which is less travelling from London. However, you would have to endure a few sea days - but it would be a great ship for the kids (but much more British clientele than say Brilliance would would have mix of nationalities).

Go for it!:)
