QM2 Smoking - So where can I now smoke??

Churchill's is on Deck 9 (forward) next to the Commodore Club.

Apart from that - You have the following parts of the deck..outside Todd English (Deck 8), Part of the QG/PG Terrace on Deck 11 and of course your stateroom/Balcony.

Thinking about it - I wonder if this change is designed to bolster business for Todd English ? I suspect it will become more popular now that the smoking area is just outside ! :D

Thank you so much for that, I knew that I could smoke in the stateroom etc but just could not find where 'Churchills' was. What about outside the boardwalk cafe???

I see you have travelled on QM2 before, this is my first time on board her and I cannot wait. Im spending 2 nights in New York (another first) before cruising to the carribean.

Once again many thanks for your help.

Jennie, As I read the new information, and based on prior experience, Churchills wich is located on 9 Forward Starboard, is for Cigar and Pipe smokers (only). There was a ruckus a few cruises back becuse cigarette smokers were also using the room. I don't know if they now welcom cigarette smokers, perhaps an email to cunard to get clarification.

Every time I've been in there, the majority of people have been using it to smoke cigarettes with no problem. If anyone is complaining it does seem a little selfish - it's now the only inside space.

Why I went in there and didn't smoke. Everytime I went into Churchill's no one was ever in there. I bet that won't be the case any more though. I will go in just to be with the fun people.

Is the casinio now smoke free?

Last time we sailed there was smoking in the casino on most nights, and this is inside!!

There are little areas on the open decks labeled as smoking areas, but really most passangers are non smokers and one would feel uncomfortable using these areas.

My best suggestion is if you want to smoke to resort to your cabin for a puff and forget about areas where smoking may be allowed but you will be the minority.

I just knew that you couldn't ask a reasonable smoking question without the smoking patrol coming in! Haha! I have a feeling Churchill's is going to be more lively now and a hell of a lot more fun. In a way it could be better for us smokers. No one can give us dirty looks or loudly proclaim their objections and imagine any who try with a whole room load of us smokers packed in! Churchill's will be the place to be, where the cool people go to escape the fun police. I was disappointed but then I thought of the revolutionary possibilities of us all being banded together...

As I don't smoke, I have no idea what it must be like to have all the disapproval that is mentioned on these boards.

I agree it must be horrible to have people waving at you, making remarks, wrinkling their noses - it's very rude.

However, I do notice, that there is quite a bit of counter criticism from the smokers. Reading the various threads, references are often made to the fun-filled atmosphere created by the smokers (not meant to be a pun :)) the very reasonable way in which the smokers put their point (as opposed to the unreasonable non-smokers ) and so on.

I have never been affected by smokers but then again, I don't frequent the casino or the pub and I am in bed by 10 o' clock :D :D Miserable ?? Moi ??

Well it sounds perfect, we will all be in the CC watching everyone enjoying them selves in churchills.

Please remember though that non smokers dont make the rules

Then they must have more power than smokers do.

Not true Rob, they simply complain more, smokers don't complain about non-smoking areas, whereas 'some' non-smokers seem to spend their lives complaining about smoking areas.

Wekk I am not sure they do, I am a non smoker and have never complained.

But lets say they do complain "a lot" if the smokers had the upper hand the companys would be saying, stop moaning let them smoke, they spend more in the pub/bar/casino and they buy more duty free smokes etc, so clearly this is not happening.

I know in the uK there is a strong anti smoking group but also there is a srong group who fight to smoke, the antis won

No, I really do think it is all about power. And the anti-smoker has found success in their quest for arguing their case against smokers. And that power has gone to their heads and they won't give up until they have achieved their goal--a smoke-free society. Then, from there, they will go on to other matters--obesity, alcohol, gambling and whatever other issues give them the high that a little bit of power produces.

Rob, I did say 'some' non-smokers.

I was referring to the rabid anti-smokers and the professional anti-smokers, you know ASH employees, these guys make a very good living by emailing everywhere, hotels, cruiselines etc, complaining about smoking.

Google ASH, they are 95% government funded, tax free too with their 'charity' status.

What a way to 'earn' a living, writing constant 'complain' emails.

Rob - this is a thread about where people can smoke on QM2.

I believe that you are being deliberately antagonistic in continuing to post anti smoking remarks in threads such as these. This thread is not about discussing the merits of whether its right or wrong. If you want to discuss that, please start your own thread.

Thanks.

Churchcill's on the Queen Mary 2 is a small room. It would not be the place for too many cigarette smokers to gather. If there should be a few cigar and pipe smokers present with the cigarette smokers, the toxic air in the room would be deadly, even though the room is well ventilated.

I would suggest that the use of the open decks allocated for smokers would be your best choice.

I think you will find the other side are arguing equally.
