Work to travel Posted April 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2010 We have reserved a rental car for the day in Curacao on Monday, May 10. What is it like driving around the island? Are the road marked? How are the driving conditions? Do you have to worry about break-ins if you leave you car while on the beach? Have people found this to be a good way to enjoy the island? Thanks for any information. It will help us so much with our planning!
harryjr Posted April 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2010 We rented a car from Avis in November and drove to Playa Porto Marie. Our experience was all positive--roads in good shape and fairly clearly marked, no theft problems while parked at the beach, and we got to do a little sightseeing when we made a few wrong turns. If we did the beach thing again I can see where a taxi might be a better choice but if you've got enough time and plan on visiting several locations and taking your time, a rental car might be the way to go. Just make sure you have a decent map or a GPS.
