Checksmate Posted April 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2010 We are going to the Grand Cayman on the Jewel of the Sea in May. The Stingray Sailing Tour has to meet at 8:15 am. Our ship is suppose to be tendered at 7:00 am. Does anyone that has been there lately know if the ship time is the same as the Grand Cayman time. doctordi Posted April 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2010 It is one hour behind. So 8:00 eastern is 7:00 there. Be sure to factor in the extra time it will take you to get off the ship in GC. Since it is a tender port, if you are not on a ship sponsored excursion, you will have to wait until all those with ship excursions get off. If you anchor at 7:00am and the ship clears customs quickly, then the ship excursions will leave first. You may have to wait until 8:30 to get a seat on a tender. I just got back from there and was on a ship excursion. We anchored at 8 and didn't get on the tender until 9:30. Had to have our tickets in hand to get on the tender. It's a little different than docking at a pier where you can get off whenever you want.
LJLB6 Posted April 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2010 Checksmate--make sure you watch your compass to see if you need tender tickets to get off the ship in the Caymans--we needed tickets on the Liberty, but I don't know about the Radiance class of ships. When we were in Belize, we did not need tender tickets. But to get off the ship in the Caymans, you needed a tender ticket. We arrived in the Caymans around 11:15 (ship time)--they started handing out numbered tender tickets at 9:30 am. I got there 45 minutes early and there were already quite a few people in line. Your tickets are numbered by tender, and they call the tender numbers over the PA system.
Checksmate Posted April 1, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted April 1, 2010 Thank you for the good information. I guess if I want to go on this tour I'll have to be in line early with a big cup of coffee!!
