frisquito Posted April 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2010 We have decided to obtain our own visas and go the "do it yourself" route in St Pete. We took the trans-siberian railway on our own and it was easier than you would think, a good map and guide book (Lonely Planet or Rick Steves) goes along way. Are taxis the only option for getting into t own and any ideas on how much that costs? Thanks

Thanks As St. Petersburg has several cruise terminals in different part of the ports I am afraid that nobody can tell you without the information on which cruise terminal you are or on which ship you are coming to St. Petersburg on which day. alexandra cruiser Posted April 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2010 Our ship had an inc. tour for no extra cost,,,we just took that bus to city center then went on our own...then took cab back to ship, BUT, be sure to have concierge write down exact ship location in Russian, we had a hard time getting back due to language problem...depends on where ship is, it can be quite expensive, not sure actual amount, we were on riverboat and docked quite far from city center...buy, hey ,you ARE in Russia,so just save a little extra and enjoy the ride and scenery....you ll love it....our guidebook really helped and people were very friendly and helpful if you used a few Russian words and held out map,etc...I envy you, it was such a great trip:D
