Cruiserhel Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Yes we have seen people settling up their bill by cash the day of departure from the ship. As far as i know the ship does change currency do not think the rate is too good but be ok for a small amount. Your husbands account can be just settled on your card, on last cruise we received a form to fill out for you to authorise the settlement of your husbands account on your card

We did 4 of us in 2 cabins on my card last time. If you want to change money the ship's rates will be dearer than both the high street at home and the atm. We usually take what we need with us. Unlike a hotel holiday where you have all week to find out where the local atm's are you only have a limited time ashore in each port. And we don't want to waste time looking for the nearest atm's in each one. Can't help with the paying with cash before the end, we just sort it out after getting home. Both your ship's I.D. cards will be registered on it. You don't have to wait till before the last night before they pop your bill under the door. You can go up to the Guest Relations desk anytime in the week and get a statement of spending so far. Every day if you want to. Berwyn

Also in Egypt, both at the Pyramids and in Cairo in the Museum and shop it was the same Euros. And when we paid by credit card in Egypt it came out in U.S. $ on the machine. When in Egypt don't make the mistake we did when getting out of the coach at the Pyramids and Sphinx. The guide advised to leave bags etc on board the coach for safety. We did and had no small change for souveniers. leave the bags aboard but take some small amounts with you in cash for cards trinkets etc. Berwyn
