Which side of ship best to book room on?

Recommended Posts

Am booking a last minute cruise today on Rhapsody of the Seas, June 13, out of Galveston, Junior Balcony Suite, and have several to choose from, all aft. Help! Re docking in different ports, which side of the ship, left or right, would be the best view of ports? Anyone know???

Depends on what ports you'll be in, and what type of view you'd like (the port, the water, other ships, etc). You'd need to try to find out how and where the ship docks at your ports.

Maybe not a great big huge deal, but still one of those little details that adds to the enjoyment of a cruise if you get it right.

You can try to plan ahead by choosing a particular side of the ship, but if it docks at a different pier or the order of the itinerary is changed, you may not get the view you planned for. Look at the map, choose what you most want to view, and then don't be disappointed if you don't actually see it from your balcony. You can always go up on deck for a great view.

We've booked starboard for our Alaska cruise next summer. It's a northward from Vancouver to Seward and most of the land is on the starboard side. For our Voyager of the Seas Canada cruise this summer, we've booked aft due to larger balconies and we'll be able to see where we've been.

It all depends on what you want to see and what you want to experience.
