NCTribeFan Posted September 14, 2013 Author #901 Share Posted September 14, 2013 The party is now only for Gold and above past cruisers. Reds aren't invited. Sorry! But you will receive a free drink coupon. That has to be used in the MDR during breakfast (port days) or brunch (sea days). If you wait until the last sea day, the MDR will be much more crowded because everyone wants their free drink.
JenniLynn Posted September 16, 2013 #902 Share Posted September 16, 2013 My DH and I and our Friend Milton Lion just sailed on the Fantasy! She was a beautiful old girl in many ways! Very clean and the staff was the best we've seen in 13 cruises! "Milton" wrote a blog with links to lots of pics on his FB page! You can check it out if you want! http://miltonthetravelinglion.blogspot.com/ For those getting ready to sail her, get ready to have an awesome time! NCTribeFan Posted September 16, 2013 Author #903 Share Posted September 16, 2013 Glad the three of you enjoyed yourselves! :D I'll check out Milton's FB page. Brice is nice, isn't he? Did the brewery tour back in May. Thought about just catching a cab over there this time, but decided against it. I did have a couple of draft Sands Light in Sparky's in the dock area in Freeport. The current crew and staff are really great. Who were your waiters? Sorry there wasn't a pic of Milton and Zelia, the casino hostess.
patthecma Posted September 17, 2013 #904 Share Posted September 17, 2013 I will be traveling with DH (tip.n.ring) for a 5 day, and have put out a message on the roll call about a possible OB get-together. If anyone is interested, please let us know on the roll call. We are also traveling on January 25th - a 7 day and are thinking about organizing one for that trip also. A fellow passenger arranged one on the Dream this past January and it was a ball! As for the ship, she is definitely our favorite. The OBC's are great - gives you spending money on your Sail N Sign card. Drinking and or gambling or shopping money!:) Pat
NCTribeFan Posted September 17, 2013 Author #905 Share Posted September 17, 2013 We had an official M&G on Leg 2 of my B2B last October (the 7-night portion). The roll calls are just so much more active for the longer cruises. We did a 1-hour get together in Cat's Lounge. It was fun but, like with the informal ones, I didn't make it around to meet everyone.
Owen's Nana Posted September 17, 2013 #906 Share Posted September 17, 2013 I read a review of yours recently where you had emailed the maitre'd and requested certain waiters for your cruise. My family of 11 is going on October 6 on the Fantasy and I have a request for the maitre'd. Do you mind sharing the email address with me? Thanks for your reviews of the Fantasy. It is one of our favorite ships also.

Sent from my ADR6350 using Forums mobile app We had ours at 11 am on the first sea day inside along the promenade, across from the coffee shop (near the baby grand piano). Gives people time to do whatever in the morning but doesn't invade lunch time (unless you want to do brunch, since it's a sea day).
Mksgrl Posted September 27, 2013 #909 Share Posted September 27, 2013 This may have been addressed already but....how is the coffee on Fantasy, specifically room service? I've heard that some ships have coffee syrup instead of real brewed coffee. Is Fantasy one of them?

fuzzmane Posted September 27, 2013 #911 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Not sure what they use for room service. But have always ordered coffee from room service on all the ships we have been on and it was fine to drink. No flavored creamers, but that's ok. NCTribeFan Posted September 27, 2013 Author #913 Share Posted September 27, 2013 I'm not a coffee drinker - hot tea for me, several cups a day. I always whine that I can't make a proper cup of tea on a ship because the water SHOULD be boiling! It's passable when made in the buffet, but other places, when they give you little pot of luke warm water just doesn't do it for me. But I did have decaf a couple of evenings after dinner and thought it was OK, but the only way I can stand coffee is if it's full of cream and sugar, so my opinion is pretty worthless to real coffee drinkers! :o
BrownCalico Posted September 27, 2013 #914 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Coffee is not bad in the main dining room or buffet, but was WAY too strong for me from room service? Plus, they didn't send any half & half with room service. Thankfully, we brought some individual sized creamers, so we were good! :-) On a related note, was relieved to see REAL Splenda, not sweet & low in a yellow packet, as is served on other lines... NCTribeFan Posted September 28, 2013 Author #915 Share Posted September 28, 2013 Ah, yes. When ordering room service, it's wise to specify every, single thing you want, including cream and sugar. I drink milk and sugar in my hot tea and specifically request the raw brown sugar and skim milk. And I ask for tea for two so I'll get a second tea bag and cup! Now that I don't sail with DD, who is NOT the morning person that I am, I just get up and go to Lido and make a better cup. But when we sailed together, I'd often put out the breakfast card when we had an excursion the next morning. There were times we'd order for two and only get 1 cup and one roll of silver. :o
BrownCalico Posted September 29, 2013 #916 Share Posted September 29, 2013 They didn't bring creamer for the coffee, but did bring milk for the cereal that we didn't ask for or need. [i brought individual organic milk boxes (like juice boxes) b/c non-organic milk gives me migraines.] Nevertheless, we were fine b/c I always travel w/Splenda & mini coffee creamers. :p

michelle1836 Posted October 1, 2013 #919 Share Posted October 1, 2013 DONE!!! it took a few days but finally finished this thread! some great information here! just booked the Fantasy for 12/26. after reading this, I think we may go down earlier and get a hotel and leaver the car there since the cost will be about the same as if we pay for parking. some quick questions- the dry dock- what did the Fantasy get besides Guys burger? anything exciting? I think I did read something about waterworks? Nancy- did you start your bed and breakfast for Carnival cruisers yet? :D
NCTribeFan Posted October 1, 2013 Author #920 Share Posted October 1, 2013 Fantasy doesn't have Guy's Burgers. Still has the usual grill (with the fantastic hot dogs). I'm not sure there are any plans to do any of the 2.0 upgrades to this class, but I haven't been keeping up with the 2.0. We'll see what I think of them when I'm on Conquest in about 6 weeks. The only "real" changes were way back when they added the waterworks, flat screen TV, and Serenity Deck, some time in 2008. What they did this past January was just basic cosmetic work (new (ugly) carpeting, etc).
BrownCalico Posted October 1, 2013 #921 Share Posted October 1, 2013 No Guy's Burger Barn. Water works was pretty good, even for a big chicken like me! :) Would say go down the day before, but with that being Christmas day, may not be much to do... bobsfamily Posted October 2, 2013 #924 Share Posted October 2, 2013 and it seems less chaotic if you arrive by hotel shuttle than park your car? thoughts? Sorry no on the roll call, seems sometimes it gets busy about a month out. As for being less hectic.... If you do the hotel shuttle they go thru a line that allows you to drop off luggage and you. You walk thru a gate in a fence and await another "shuttle" that takes you to the terminal. If you drive in and park at the port, you go thru another line that you drop off checked luggage and then are directed to an indoor parking garage where you will catch the shuttle to the terminal. Either way you have to take the port shuttle to the terminal.

Although, I did notice that the hotel folks ended up boarding first because they started running those shuttles before the parking began. I had some friends who were at the Hampton Inn and Suites and passed by the hotel on my way to the port and they hadn't left yet. As I was sitting in line waiting for parking to start, I saw their shuttle go by our line to the luggage tent. They were already on the ship as I was checking in.
