lily23star Posted April 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Has anyone done the Caribbean Pirates Extravaganza tour on the tall sailing ship? We will have 2 kids with us (ages5 & 9) and wondered if this is a good/worthwhile tour to take. Lily23star

lori68 Posted April 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2010 We did this excursion with our 9yr old about 3 years ago through RCCL. It was fantastic! The Brig Unicorn was used as the Black Pearl in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but looks much bigger on screen! The crew lets the kids fire the cannons. They take you to Pigeon Island where they have organized a treasure hunt. I don't recall if it is keys you had to find or slips of paper hidden all over the island. Either way, you earn a key to try to open the treasure chest on board the Unicorn. Whoevers key opens the chest gets to keep the diamond inside! Ours didn't but they did give us a bottle of St. Lucian Rum. Pigeon Island is a great place to hike the trails and sightsee. On the way back they had crab races...it was really fun! Book this tour, you won't regret it!
katbat2 Posted May 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2010 We also did the Pirate Tour in Jan but on the Victory, same itinerary. While we didn't have small children we did observe others and the kids seemed to be having a good time. The crew was very accomodating to the kids. There is a beach area where you can snorkel, no beach chairs and a small restaurant/bar area. We hiked up to Ft Rodney, the views were awesome. We didn't participate in the treasure hunt but helped a few along our hike looking for clues. We are in our 50's and had a great time.
smilz Posted May 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2010 How long are you on the island? Is there enough time to snorkel AND hike?
katbat2 Posted May 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2010 How long are you on the island? Is there enough time to snorkel AND hike? We had about 1hr, plenty of time to snorkel I would think as we saw several.
