Which Day Pass???

Scuba girl is certainly knowledgeable about everything Nassau. Just to add a little, my wife and I have visited both Hotels and in our opinion the Hilton was the better experience of the two.

Could you elaborate please? E.g., was the beach better at the Hilton than the Sheraton, etc. The other facilities (pools)? We'll be in Nassau in Oct. and thinking seriously about a day pass, and trying to gauge the best choice for us (two adults, no kids; we like to swim).

Are there places in each hotel where you can change if you have a day pass?

(We've also been considering the day room at the Sheraton.)

Anyone else, pls feel free to weigh in. Thanks in advance for any info!

We have not been to the Hilton so can't comment on that. We spent the day at the Sheraton..........$25/person and a short bus ride there. They have a few pools that you can use.........very nice pools. You can always change in their bathrooms if you want to. The beach was lovely...........we were in the ocean most of the day and then spent a half hour at the pool before leaving......just to get all the salt water off of us.........LOL It's located on Cable Beach and the water is very very calm there. We totally enjoyed the day - you have use of all their pools, lounge chairs and I believe non-motorized equipment, although we did not use the water toys. They also provide nice large towels so you don't have to lug any from the ship.

  • 3 months later...

Considering the BCH on my upcoming cruise stop in Nassau. Can someone provide any recent experience? Cost? Also do they provide towels or should be bring some from the ship?

Also what is the best way to book BCH? Just walk-in? or thru island marketing? or ?

Thanks,

This is a very informative thread. We will be in Nassau Jan 9 on Majesty. What is water temp then and would you recommend a day pass? If so, which resort? Main interests are: beach, would like to get IN water, sit in palapa and have drinks included. Suggestions?? Thanks for any help!

I will be there on a cruise on the 3rd of January. I would like to take my grandson to see the fish exhibit and I am looking for ticket pricing per person/or a tour that will take us there' date=' but not on the ship. The ship pricing seems excessive. Anyone aware of the cost to do the tour on your own?[/quote']

You can purchase passes to the DIGS Aquarium directly from the Atlantis for $39per adult and $29 per child. Yes, it's a bit excessive.

You'll need to either get a cab or water taxi to and from the Atlantis.

Scudagirrl...I feel like we should $$$ for all your knowledge;) you are more help than ANY travel agent! I have my husband & I, 3 kids ages 16, 12 & 6 I had planned on Atlantis only doing the aquarium because we are only there until 2 it seems very $$$ I am worried my kids will get there & want to do the water park:eek: which does look fun if we had more time...So my question is do I take them to the Atlantis (because I have read it's a must see) or Sheridan day pass? Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't pay that price for this aquarium, and secondly, I wouldn't tease my kids with a water park in view.

Head to the Sheraton and save Atlantis for a land vacation.

Thank You...Sheraton it is...Do you live in the Bahamas? Or just visit alot?

Up until recently I spent most of my year in the bahamas with my boyfriend who is bahamian. We had been together 24 years. He passed away in April, so now I go back and forth, since my family and support is in the states.

Scuba Girl, you have been great with all of your knowledge! Thank you! We are going to be in Nassau on Jan. 14 from noon until 10 pm. Do you know what time the shops normally close? We want to go to the Sheraton, but don't want to miss any shopping time as well. This will be the first time my son's girlfriend will be there and I want to make sure she has time to shop and look around.

Most shops will close around 5:30. Strawmarket starts closing aroung 4:30 since it's dark by 5pm. Marina Village at Atlantis will still have a few shops open until 8pm.. not many.

BTW.. there's shops at the sheraton, as well as the Wyndham next door. There's some in the walkway between the two connecting the casino as well.

Hi Scubagirl,

Thank you for all the great info. We are only in port from 7-2pm and would like some advice on what to do. Any nice beaches close by the port? We have 4 children with us and 25 adults. We will probably split up so need advice for kids as well as adults. Any info would be great.

Scubagrrl,

I'm sorry for your loss.

While my DH and I have ben to Nassau on a couple occasions, this Feb will be our 6 year old daughter's first trip. i would like to her to see more in the bahamas than s theme park. Otherwise, why bother to go there?

Other than possibly getting her hair braided... Do you have any ideas of family friendly places where she can get a glimpse at Bahaman life?

Thank you!

Ardastra Zoo would be cool.. Check the schedule for the Marching flamingoes and lorry parrot feedings. www.ardastra.com

There's also forts and the queens staircase nearby.

Fort Fincastle is up the hill from the cruise port, and Fort Charlotte is near the Zoo.

I read in another thread that you had suggested the People to People Ministry of Tourisim in Nassau. Can you give me some more information on that?? We will be doing a back to back cruise to Nassau in February and are looking for something other than the typical excursions since we have been to Nassau before. Would love to get to know people and the culture better.

Thanks, Kim

Do any of these resorts have wading pools or zero-entry pools for the little kids? Our son can swim with a swim vest, but he's only 3 and he really loves being able to stand and sit in wading pools!

Sheraton has a zero entry pool, as does Atlantis. Wyndam has a wide set up steps the kids play on.
