Does anyone know the smoking policy on the miracle? We're hoping it's mostly smoke

Last time I was on it - there was smoking allowed on one side of the ship (can't remember if port or starboard), most of the bars, casino, your balcomy, your cabin but none of the eating areas. I am a smoker and found more than enough areas to indulge in my habit - but always asked who ever was near me if it was okay even if it way a designated area.

I think open decks outside is Starboard (have a 50/50 shot but to be sure look for the ashtrays).

Casino, some lounges etc are smoking. No smoking in dining rooms, buffet, theater, shops, etc. Cabins and balconies are smoking permitted as well.

After reading your questions, I would suggest going to Carnival under FAQ - they will answer a lot of your questions. The smoking policy is pretty much similar regardless of ship.

It's more liberal than we are used to but no big deal.

Carnival uses designated smoking areas. While Carnival does not allow someone to walk from venue to venue with a lit cigarette...the designated smoking areas are plentiful.

...so no worries.

The Casino, disco, piano bar, Sports bar .... as well as the Starboard side outdoors, your cabin (although since smoke is NOT allowed in the hallways...no cracking the cabin door )...and balcony.

Also be aware that sometimes they use the disco during the day for Camp Carnival activities...any designated smoking area being used by CC has no smoking or drinking allowed as long as the kids are in there.

Have a great cruise...

The are very few areas on Carnival where smoking is not permitted. Hopefully, you will not wind up with a cabin that has been previously smoked in.

Actually, I believe there are far more non smoking area by square foot than there are smoking areas except for cabins.

I also believe you'd be hard pressed to find ANY cabin that hasn't been smoked in at one time or another. But fortuntately they have methods of cleaning them to the point that it's rare to ever smell smoke residue in them.

The last time I looked on Carnival's site for smoking/non-smoking information there was none to be found.

John Heald, Carnival's Senior Cruise Director, has gathered up some smoking information by ship and it can be found here.

Although the cabins are all smoking ours was noticeably without an ashtray, perhaps to discourage smoking in the cabin. We've been on several cruises with a total of 10 cabins and none of them have ever smelled of smoke at all.

They must have magical cleaning products. ;)

I was on the Valor last week and was told by my room steward that there was absolutely no smoking in the rooms which suprised me cause I could smoke in my cabin on the Holiday

Well he sure was wrong. On our last cruise on the Sensation, when we asked the steward for an ashtray, he gave us one of "those" looks but he did get us an ashtray. He also made it a point to make one of "those faces" or wave his hands in front of his face everytime he came up to our room. I bet he wondered why he didnt get a tip from us.

I'll guarantee you that every cabin has been smoked in. To think otherwise is very naive. The cleaning products they use are very effective.

I smoke and my wife hates smoke and she has never had an issue with a cabin smelling like smoke. I have yet to find an ashtray in a room but always received one when asked for balcony use.

Thank you for being so conscientious of fellow passengers. Sometimes people like you are hard to find and your effort at not offending fellow passengers is appreciated. Wish there were more people like you. Thank you again!

it's mostly smoke! And the smokers don't recognize non-smokers rights. In your face with cigars, pipes what ever. There are some really rude smokers out there.

Like there are also many very rude non smokers too;)

After looking at your avatar, I hope it was just cigarette smoking that as the issue.

Of course its cigarette smoking. I am not stupid enough to attempt to get any "good" cigarettes on board. Those can wait till I get home!:D
