cruisincory Posted April 23, 2010 #27 Share Posted April 23, 2010 There is a small plank at the front of the ship. That is the only place I know of that wont infringe on other peoples air. So,smoke away.... no no no...cant be on the front of the ship. Then the smoke will be blowing back and someone may catch a whiff of it and break into an "allergic" reaction...maybe you could climb up the flag poles that hang from the rear of the ship:D
rollmeaway27 Posted April 23, 2010 #28 Share Posted April 23, 2010 They made the flag poles non smoking.
Sea Born Posted April 23, 2010 #29 Share Posted April 23, 2010 Like there are also many very rude non smokers too;) Boy, do I AGREE with you on that one!!
CruiseHobbit Posted April 23, 2010 #30 Share Posted April 23, 2010 I was on the Miracle a couple of years ago, and again last month. Neither time did I have any problems with smoke. The only place I noticed smoke was in the Casino.
jfulcher Posted April 23, 2010 #31 Share Posted April 23, 2010 it's mostly smoke! And the smokers don't recognize non-smokers rights. In your face with cigars, pipes what ever. There are some really rude smokers out there. I'm not a smoker, but have witnessed some rude non-smokers too! It goes both ways.
Fun, Fun 44 Posted April 24, 2010 #32 Share Posted April 24, 2010 Yes there are as many rude smokers as there are non-smokers. Yes you can smoke in your cabin and yes there are plenty of lounges and deck areas for smokers. If smokers/non smokers would stay in their own designated areas it would work out great. But someone will light up on the non smoking side just because more of their group doesn't smoke and they don't want to walk across. As well as non smokers complaining about smoke when they are sitting on lido on the smoking side. Go figure! If ya see ashtrays go to the otherside or if you smoke stay in that area! Not difficult. More non smoking areas than smoking, but smoking folks that go with us are happy with the areas. Been on 15 cruises in 4 years with both in our parties......everyone has been happy! No different that going to a tourist attraction, everybody play nice! Kat
LHP Posted April 24, 2010 #33 Share Posted April 24, 2010 I do wish Carnival (in general...not just on the Miracle) would hand out a little map at Embarkation so that smokers will know WHERE the designated smoking areas are. They should not have to "hunt" a place to smoke when they board the ship. Yes, it is in the Fun Times...but the smokers don't get that little piece of information until they are allowed in their cabins at 1:30pm.... oldvato Posted April 24, 2010 #34 Share Posted April 24, 2010 Like there are also many very rude non smokers too;) How rude of non smokers to not blow smoke in your face. I'm an ex-smoker and I can smell cigarette smoke a long ways off. But I have yet to be in a cabin that smells like a smokers been in it. They do a pretty good job of sanatizing the room. I wonder if they wipe the walls and ceiling with cleaners. How else could they get rid of the stink?
rdler Posted April 24, 2010 #35 Share Posted April 24, 2010 I was on the Destiny recently. I was smoking in a designated area. There was an ashtray on the table. Literally, somebody a couple of tables away from me had a fit. (Her table also had an ashtray on it.) She was coughing, rolling her eyes and exclaiming loudly about the rudeness of others. I said quite loudly to my son while pointing to the lady, "That woman is having a stroke or a seizure! I am going to find security." So I did. I asked for medical attention for the woman. Of course security did nothing and the medics did not come, but I hope the woman got my point.
DocF Posted April 24, 2010 #36 Share Posted April 24, 2010 We are non-smokers. Other than the casinos, we have had little issue with smoke on Carnival ships. Most passengers seem to understand and follow the rules. As time goes by, we should see less and less smoking tolerated in all areas of the ships. Most people in the US view smoking in public as anti-social behavior nowadays. If that statement ruffles your feathers, perhaps you need to look at how you smoke in public places. Doc I wouldn't bet on it. Smokers love cruising, but they love their cigarettes more. Even at $4.50 a pack. Smokers would not cruise if Carnival made it difficult for them to smoke. Carnival would never go that route and lose all those cruisers. Like I said, I was a smoker and smokers cannot do without their cigarettes anymore than we can do without breathing. rdler Posted April 24, 2010 #38 Share Posted April 24, 2010 Assuming that I smoke in smoking areas only, how should I re-evaluate how I smoke in public? Outdoors is a very big place.
Matt in FL Posted April 24, 2010 #39 Share Posted April 24, 2010 Have you gone to http://www.carnival.com and checked out the FAQ section? I did and found nothing regarding the smoking policy in the FAQs.
travelntreats Posted April 24, 2010 #40 Share Posted April 24, 2010 I did and found nothing regarding the smoking policy in the FAQs. From: http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Static_Templates/ticket_contract.aspx (b) Guest acknowledges that Carnival’s vessels contain non-smoking sections. Guest agrees to refrain from smoking in those sections and agrees that Carnival has the right to disembark the Guest for failure to observe Carnival’s non-smoking policy. Jeano222 Posted April 24, 2010 #46 Share Posted April 24, 2010 They use a product called Ozium spray, which is highly effective with eliminating odors, it doesn't mask them it eliminates them. You can buy your own can at Home Depot and other places, it actually started as a home health product for maskig odors in a sick room, but it really caught on and hotels and cruise ships use it almost exclusively now. Guess that is too much for cruisincory to decipher !
riffatsea Posted April 24, 2010 #48 Share Posted April 24, 2010 We were worried about smoke before our first cruise in March on the Spirit. I have asthma and smoke is a real nono for me. Happily we had NO probs on the ship at all! Our cabin was fine(balcony) and the ship had plenty of entertainment in non smoking bars. The only place I wish I could have gone was the piano bar but we had lots of fun without it. In fact, when I was dancing out on the pool deck and one of the other folks had a lit cigarette , I just mentioned my asthma and she put the cigarette out. I would have been happy to just move a bit away but I thought that was very nice of her. There ARE nice considerate folks out there but YOU have to be nice and considerate too.:p
