explain how to check for better prices

I know this is probably a stupid question. How can you see if their is a better price than what you got on a cruise? Do you have to look at the date you are saling, the same ship, the same room type or can you look at the prices they are offering for the same ship, same trip-maybe not same date, and the same room type?

I'd like a credit of some sort, other people say the get on board credits. I haven't got anything. I am also trying to find out if we will get a credit for the Alaska head tax.

Thanks. Sorry guys, but this our first cruise and I want the best price I can get.

You have to check same date, same type of room, and then if the price is less then what you paid for the same exact thing, then you can get OBC, but I think if you booked early saver only.

I booked early saver and already have 100 OBC for my Oct Sailing.

Good luck

I did book Early Saver, our trip is June 22 on the Spirit. I never did see the prices go drop, just steadily go up. I don't think there are many rooms left. Do you think it's just because we are going in the summer, that the prices never dropped?

You obviously can only compare rates and get price drops for same ship/date, same cabin category and same number of passengers in the cabin. If you bookeed Earluy Saver you can get price drops up to 2 business days before sailing. If you booked FunSelect, Past Guest, 55+, Resident or Military, you can get price drops up to final Payment, but can only get an upgrade thereafter.

You can monitor Military Rates on any of the several on-line sites that display Military Rates; you cannot determine these rates on carnival.com, only by calling Carnival. You can view the current Military Rate s offered by Carnival at http://www.bookccl.com/salestools/FunFaxes/Special%20Programs/T1PM1.pdf .

Once Booked, You can check the Past Guest, 55+ and Resident Promo Rates daily using the Quick Search Box on carnival.com . In order to view the promo rates, it may be necessary to first Log-In with your username AND Password, then Log-Out, such that no Name or Past Guest ID info is displayed when you visit carnival.com.

· Use the blue QUICK SEARCH Box on Carnival.com Home Page to fill-in your cruise information (Month/year, Embarkation Port, Destination, Cruise Length). Select the "Special Rates" link and select your State of Residence from the drop-down list, and the promo rates (Past Guest, 55+) that you're eligible for,. Click on the SEARCH link.

· The next display will be the SEARCH RESULTS display for ALL THE CRUISES that fit your search criteria. There will be a line for each Cruise; across that line, the fare being offered for the lowest available Cabin classification within each Category (Interior, OceanView, Balcony, Suite) is displayed. If you click on the Category title, the Cabin classifications that are included in that Category are displayed (e.g., for INTERIOR the display might show Cabin classifications 1A, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E, 4F, 4G and 4H. PT Porthole. 4J Picture Window (obstructed views as being included in INTERIOR The Fare displayed below each Category is NOT the Fare for ALL the Cabin classifications in that Category; it’s the Fare for the lowest Cabin classification in that Category. Find your specific Cruise/Date line and click on the DETAILS link.

· This CRUISE SUMMARY page displays Cabin Selection info, Itinerary Info and Ship Info for the specific Cruise you selected. To proceed with Cabin Selection you have to Click the “SELECT” button under the Cabin Category (Interior, OceanView, Balcony, Suite) thatyou’re interested in. The Fare displayed below each Category is NOT the Fare for ALL the Cabin classifications in that Category; it’s the Fare for the lowest Cabin classification in that Category.

· The next display will be the RATES PAGE for the Cabin Category (Interior, OceanView, Balcony, Suite) that you just selected. There will be a line for the standard FunSelect, FunSaver (and EarlySaver if still being offered) Rates. Then, the 55+ Rate line, the Past Guest Rate line and the or Resident Rate (for the State you selected earlier) is displayed, ONLY IF they are currently being offered. If you did a Cruise Search and entered your state, 55+ and Past Guest, there will be a Resident Rate line, a 55+ Rate Line and a Past Guest Rate displayed here ONLY if that rate is currently being offered for your specific cruise (and for the Resident Rate, for the State you entered). The Fare displayed alongside each of the the FunSelect, FunSaver, 55+ Rate line, the Past Guest Rate line and the Resident Rate line NOT the Fare for ALL the Cabin classifications in that Booking Rate; it’s the Fare for the lowest available Cabin classification in that Rate for the Category you selected. Select the Rate you’re interested-in, Select the number of Guests, and Click on the “CONTINUE” link.

  • The next display will be the STATEROOM PAGE for the CATEGORY and RATE that you previously selected. Click on CATEGORY at the top of the display (or on the blue EDIT in the middle of the display).

  • FINALLY, The next display will be the Listing of all the STATEROOM CATEGORIES and their FARES for the Booking Rate that you selected (FunSelect, FunSaver, EarlySaver, 55+, PastGuest, Residency). The Booking Info, Fare Code, Govt Fees and taxes for the booking will be displayed in the right-border. This is where you see the actual rates for each cabin classification within a CATEGORY.

If your Category is listed as N/A, then you are out of luck for a Price Adjustment, unless more Cabins become available. However, if a Category above yours drops below your current ES Rate, you can upgrade to that Category and generally get OBC for the fare difference.

Iv booked lots of cruises out of Galveston and so far only got one real price drop. (well the price did drop once for $10 pp and I decided to pay extra and upgrade, so didnt take the $10 ... so maybe twice out of half a dozen cruises.

My one legit one is $20 pp ... and ES will drop off by Monday probably, we are almost there. I find right around the date ES drops off sometimes there is a slight price drop. All you can do is keep looking. It sounds like everyone gets price drops, but those not posting are probably still in the majority that dont get them.

Ken thanks for responding. I have done what you said. However, from the start they are showing there are no inside or ocean view rooms available on the date we are sailing. We were going inside, but we were upgraded to ocean view rooms with limited visibility from the room. So, I am assuming we won't even qualify for anything because there are no rooms available. I never saw the rates drop over the last year as I watched them, they always went up. Too bad. However, we still got a good deal in the first place with Early Saver rates according to what the prices had been looking at when they did have those room types available.

Hello Tx Sunshine:

You can only get your price lowered if same cabin grade/sailing/ship is selling for less than what you paid. And this almost never happens for summer or holiday sailings. I did get price adjustment for Alaska in a suite last summer when the economy was really stinky. And I got two price adjustments for Elation Panama Canal leaving in 5 days. The trick is you have to call as soon as you see it because the price can and does go up.

Hope you have a great cruise.

ok I have followed the steps and do not see 4A category. I only see 4B,C and up. There is a 1A but no 4A. Does that mean all rooms are booked or what?

Check the FunSelect Rate for your 4A Category; if there ARE 4A cabins cabins listed for funSelect then that suggests that the "pool" of 4A's set aside for Early Saver is sold. Keep watching for Past guest, 55+ or your State rates (that you are eligible for). ken
