AndreaN140 Posted January 6, 2011 #102 Share Posted January 6, 2011 Hey there - you know, sometimes when you have lowered expectations it really works in your favour as you end up having a much better time than you thought you would! You're committed now so just relax and concentrate on the cocktails and no cooking or cleaning for however many days. I hope to hear that you had a great time and meet up with some lovely people (it sounds like you will as there are a few people on this thread who sound like they know how to have a good time). happyg Posted January 7, 2011 #103 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I only read Kiwiboy's report today and was quite concerned on his review. I phoned CIC straight away and asked if they had had any feedback on this cruise, and the negative review. Her response was "none at all". She asked I send her a copy of the review which I did. CIC have obviouosly received a copy of this from more than one person by all accounts of the reviews. Either they are putting their head in the sand and dont want to hear of any adn not taking any of this seriously. Bit of a worry as everyone is expecting better than what has been provided. There is lots of little issues that has been raised and there appears to have been no attempt to put any of them right. ie food not real good, cold coffee, warm champagne etc. On board staff appear not to have made any attempt to rectify any of the situations Kiwiboy raised. I hope CIC management contact the ship and make sure future cruise members get better treatment. Lynne (Darwin NT)

Lynne (Darwin NT) Hi Lynne, Do you know the name of the person you spoke to because I wrote to them yesterday with a copy of Kiwiboy's report and have had no acknowledgement which I find quite disappointing. My travel agent contacted the head of their cruise department. He is a small ship enthusiast and this is what he had to say. "The Princess Daphne is a wonderful little old ship and offers 3,5 star service at 3.5star prices with incredible itineraries. I myself have put my own clients on her and four out of 5 couples have rebooked her for next season." I am looking forward to hearing other experiences on this ship. Kruzermum Posted January 7, 2011 #105 Share Posted January 7, 2011 I contacted CIC the very next day after reading Kiwiboys report. I spoke to Laura and emailed her Kiwiboys review. I don't know why they acted as though they hadn't heard of this previously as I spent at least half an hour on the phone to Laura reference my concerns. Laura was actually reading this whilst on the phone to me. She assured me that there had been no negative feedback thus far. We really need to hear what JIMMY4U's comments are as he has just returned.
Kruzermum Posted January 8, 2011 #106 Share Posted January 8, 2011 We were told definitely NO alcohol to be taken on board by passengers. They were checking luggage and carry on bags when we boarded. Kiwiboy or anyone privy, Can you tell me if I take my Aussie hair dryer on the Daphne can I use it in their power points? Or do I need to take an International plug? Also can do we have access to an iron? Or do we ask our cabin steward to iron our things? If so I may have to buy a little travel iron. Thanks in advance :)
Kiwiboy Posted January 8, 2011 #107 Share Posted January 8, 2011 You will need an international plug for all appliances. The sockets on board are two prongs. There is no laundry room on board and they don't allow travel irons. There is a charge of approx A$3.50 per garment for pressing.

chris@aanet Posted January 8, 2011 #110 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Hi Kiwiboy, I was wondering whether the cabins are equipped with hairdryers and as a matter of interest, was there entertainment in the evening and what sort of a standard was that? Thanks for answering our questions!

chris@aanet Posted January 8, 2011 #113 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Does anyone know if there is wifi on board or only connections to their computers in the net cafe (if there is a net cafe)?? Hi Cathy, According to our cruise documents, internet access is available on 4 computer terminals on Panorama Deck 4. It is also possible to connect to a wireless connection with your own laptop. I would think therefore, that internet access is not available in the cabins. It also seems that hairdryers are available only in premium cabins. It would be great to hear of your experiences direct from the ship. We are on the cruise after yours. I will be taking my laptop and will endeavour to do the same. jimmy4au Posted January 8, 2011 #115 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Just got back from the New Year Cruize and agree with Kiwiboy 100%. Anyone on deck 3 or so called Promonade Deck, be aware of some water damage. Anyone booked into 7 or 6 deck be aware of air conditioning not working...:(..going to be very hot.... Tryed to write a long review but got cut out...anyone wanting some more information, dont hesitate to contact me... I call it a rust bucket, ready for a dive side...You want rude staff you get it...Majority of staff are all either Ukrains or Portugies...starting from the Receptionist to the top... They are pretending to be a 5 star cruise...we give them top 2....one for the cabin steward, and one for the food... Be prepared to spend another $1500+ on drinks and excersions...excersions are not worse it...you want coffee 24/7..are not going to happen unless you pay...you want water?...you pay...nothing is free... Entertainment is boring...no Casino only 4 pokey machines and two are out of order... Long pants in the dining room, pack you suit and tie to wear..just formal dining...be prepared of Jose the head of restaurant he not only fight with the customers, but with the staff... Not suited for Australian's and they have not catered for it either..Need more information get back to me....I know I will not ever travel with that lot again..and so is some of the staff we were talking too... Hi Jimmy, Which deck were you on? We are on deck 6! Was there no air conditioning on these decks the whole cruise? I can't imagine anyone being able to sleep in an enclosed cabin in that tropical heat & humidity. Chris

Are you going to push for a refund? We are on Atlantic deck 5. I am so so so keen to hear more of your story please. It's incredibly hard for us guys who are already booked and ready to go. My hubby is now perusing the cancellation process in our documentation:( This is very very disturbing........What in the Hell are CIC doing? they are most certainly burying their head in the sand and their audacity to allow such sub standard conditions of the ship and staff to continue. Please can you email me privately on stephanielmack2003@yahoo.com I am very eager to hear about everything. Also can you post the description of the menu for me please, just an idea of what we would be expecting. Also drink prices for beers and wine? I'm really looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you, thank you so much for getting back to all of us. We have been eagerly awaiting for this and we all appreciate your openness and honesty. Chris, I hope you can keep us in formed whilst you are on board. Cheers

Kruzermum Posted January 8, 2011 #125 Share Posted January 8, 2011 Hi again Jimmy or Kiwiboy Can you please expand on the dining situation again? Do you mean we must dress formal every night in the dining room if we wish to eat there? i.e Black tie? I assumed that the Daphne only has 2 formal sittings on our cruise? Thanks again guys :)
