MariaNC Posted April 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2010 My family (2 adults, 2 children) is booked on the NCL Pearl for 11/10. When we booked fuel surcharges were no longer in effect but NCL (and I assume all cruise lines) have the right to reinstate them when oil rises above a certain price. Due to the usual summer spike in oil prices combined with the major spill in the Gulf of Mexico I think I need to start budgeting for this expense. If it doesn't happen fabulous but I want to be prepared. So my question is, do the fuel surcharges apply to everyone in the cabin or just the first two persons in the cabin? Has anyone had any experience with fuel charges? If they are instated after final payment do they send you and additional bill or do you pay them onboard with your service charge. Thanks for your help!
RoadTripFanatic Posted April 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2010 From what I have read when they were active passengers 1 & 2 were x amount of dollars ($11 on NCL) and 3&4 were a discounted rate. ($5- on NCL) per person per day.
MariaNC Posted May 1, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Thank you for your response. That would make it a bit easier! I understand paying the full amount for serivce charge but was kind of hoping they would give us a break on the fuel surcharge. MariaNC
