dfmeeks Posted May 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Does anyone know how long it will take to drive from Stillwater, Ok to Galveston? I'm going to Mapquest it but, in my experience, it's not that accurate. Thanks!
cruiseokie Posted May 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2010 we live in Tulsa and have driven this route to cruise many times. We usually leave early saturday morn and drive to The Woodlands, which is about 1 1/2 hrs north of Galveston, just north of Houston and it takes about 8 hrs depending on traffic. We then get up early Sun morn and head to Galveston and very rarely encounter much traffic through downtown Houston on Sunday morning. I would think the whole trip would take about 9 to 10 hrs driving straight through, but I wouldn't chance driving down on Sunday of the cruise because you very easily can get hung up in construction zones or heavy traffic and get to Galveston too late to board the ship. New2Cruzin2 Posted May 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2010 Cruiseokie, can u recommend a good hotel in the woodlands area? Thanks!
cruiseokie Posted May 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2010 we have stayed at the Fairfield Inn. It is right in front of the Walmart and just off I45 and very close to restaurants. The access on and off I45 was a breeze. Just hop right back on the next morning and take I45 all the way into Galveston.
jprice1485 Posted May 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2010 I'm from Edmond and it takes me roughly 9hrs to get to Galveston. Add the 45-60minutes it takes from Stillwater to Edmond and you're at roughly 10hrs.
jbh7 Posted May 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2010 In the Woodlands, there is also a Marriott Courtyard and a Hilton Garden Inn. there is a fancy Marriott Hotel called the Marriott Waterway, so be sure to pick the Courtyard if you want that one. dfmeeks Posted May 9, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted May 9, 2010 Thanks for the input everyone! I'll figure on 9-10 hours, depending on if I drive or my husband drives. My foot is a liitle heavier than his! It never ocurred to me to stay in Houston. I lived in the Spring Branch area for a few years but my family has never been there. I'm just so excited!
