Renting a Car in Mazatlan

Does anone know if there are car rental agencies near the pier in Mazatlan? I did a search and some mentioned National having a location by the pier but I went online and they only have a location downtown and at the airport. Anyone rented near the pier?

We've never rented a car there. Are you thinking of going out of town? For local places, imho it would seem best to take a taxi. They know the roads and don't have to worry about parking.

Agree that if you are just going to stay in the city you certainly don't need a car. IF you rent make sure you take the insurance!

Mexican law is based on the Napoleanic code and you are considered GUILTY until proven innocent sooo if you have a traffic accident and don't have insurance you are in trouble.

The insurance acts as your bond and is your "get out of jail free card".

We did a jeep 4x4 excursion in Matzalan. I drove our jeep out of town from the port and back (in rush hour!), including the shopping areas. I drive the Atlanta interstates everyday, but IMHO....I'd take a cab!
