Are non alcoholic beverages being examined?

So if I were to put vodka in water bottles and put them in my carry on as the cruise line states that is where they must go would those bottles be examined?

Any bottles that you bring on board are supposed to be sealed. So if they are not, they may be taken from you.

We sailed on the Legend out of Tampa on April 18th. We packed our bottles of water, diet coke and sprite instead of carrying them on. We put our little lock on the suitcase. When it came to our room, it had obviously been unlocked and opened/inspected because there was a Carnival letter stating "prohibited items were suspected". Nothing was removed, as it was surely water and soda.
