1-way transatlantic to UK

My husband and I are moving from the US to the UK. We live near Charleston, SC. We're thinking that a 1-way transatlantic cruise might be the way to get there!

 

My question is are there any not-so-long (i.e., 16-days, 18-days, etc.) 1-way transatlantic cruises that I might consider?

Try looking at Cunard - they offer regular crossings (I think New York to Southhampton) that are about 6 or 7 nights. The other cruise lines generally just do lengthy ones and only twice per year (East bound in spring when repositioning to Europe and West bound in the fall when repositioning to Caribbean and U.S./Canada).

Try a freighter. Look on-line as I don't remember the name. But there are freighters that take passengers.

Gonzo's answer is the more obvious one, Cunard offer regular NYC-Southampton one-way sailings usually on QM2, crossing in about 6 days.

 

Although I gather that the cabins & food on freighters are surprisingly good there's obviously no organised entertainment or diversions. And crossing times are much longer, so they're not a cheap way to travel.

But then neither is Cunard.:rolleyes:

 

Re-positioning cruises are mainly in the spring, when a lot of cruise ships switch from cruising places like the Caribbean to bases in europe - mainly the Mediterranean or England. They tend to be 14 to 21 days & include visiting several ports at one end or the other or both.

Re-positioning cruise rates tend to be the best in the business. These are one-offs each year so easiest found by using a cruise specialist T/A.
