Rental Car?

any suggestions tips about renting a car or van while in st thomas

have searched for car rentals and have come up empty

We've rented from Avis 2 or 3 times there. A few tips:

• Be aware that they drive on the other side of the road from in the US. Make sure you're comfortable with that prospect.
  
• We've seen Avis run out of cars & turn away folks who had confirmed reservations (Not us!! We got their last car...). Make sure you get to their office as soon as you can get off the ship (this was at the Havensight dock).

We used Budget about 3 years ago. The cost was reasonable but like the previous post said that they run out of cars even to people who had confirmed reservations. I saw some pretty upset people. The car ran great, no mystery charges added and we even took the car to St. John.

 

We leave a week from today and have rented a car from Avis. We plan to be off the ship ASAP to make sure we have a car.

Several car rental agencies on island, some local companies and some big name/franchises. Try doing a search for car rental companies in STT and then contact a few for rates and location: try http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=st.+thomas+car+rentals&aq=f&aqi=g2g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=. As far as ones located right close to Havensight dock: there is Budget and Avis. Others would have to either bring the car to you or you'd have to pick up. If you're at Crown Bay dock then the airport is close and there are several car rental agencies at the airport and close by.
