trptplayer22 Posted May 20, 2010 #127 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Last year we had to take our vests and put them on. You aren't the first person with a Pride review that mentioned you didn't have to take the vests to muster. Is that something new?
trptplayer22 Posted May 20, 2010 #128 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Really enjoying your review and the pictures. I live in the pittsburgh also and we were thinking about driving in to baltimore the night before our cruise(jan 16th 2011) and staying somewhere that offers parking and a shuttle. Do you think we would be ok to just drive in the day of our cruise? How long would you say it would take? I am a little worried being that it will be in january, with the weather and all. Whats you opinion about this? Thanks . Loving your review great job!!! I'm lucky I live about 30 minutes from the Port, but if you decide to stay the night before, try the Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn in White Marsh both are close the Port and I believe they both offer a shuttle. deucbmac Posted May 20, 2010 Author #135 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Great review thus far..... about 3 months from today and my family will be enjoying her hospitality for our first cruise. Those with the sooner cruises coming up...let us know about the power strip deal. I'm planning one in good shape as I'll need it to charge cameras, laptop and external drive to save all of our pics and videos. Any review is great for those of us planning but especially the Mark's and Carrie's have been pretty good for planning! There is only one plug in the room so a power strip would be a good idea. We heard that people's were getting confiscated and so we just took turns charging everything. i too was wondering the same thing. I was planning on during the night before and staying somewhere but i am wondering now if i can leave the morning of and still be ok. All tho i am going next jan, so i am a little worried about weather Really enjoying your review and the pictures. Whats you opinion about this? Thanks . Loving your review great job!!! The drive from Pittsburgh to the port is only 4 to 4.5 hours. In January though, I think that might be a toss up. I don't think the hotels would be too booked in January, that you couldn't make a late minute reservation if needed.
Smithkids5521 Posted May 20, 2010 #136 Share Posted May 20, 2010 I am really loving your review!!!! Great so far! Although, I must admit that while I love the door decorations- at first it did not look to me like it said "Go Pens!" but something else that shall remain unsaid! LOL!!!!! We'll be on Pride in August- Upper Deck as well...thanks for posting your review. Now...more food porn, please!!!;)

joanne h Posted May 20, 2010 #138 Share Posted May 20, 2010 k ty I still have time to decide. I will see what it looks like in November to late December and then I might try to hold off and only make that last minute reservation if needed. So, if I leave like 6ish, would that be ok? even if it takes me 5 to 6 hrs that will put me there around noon. I think I will have enough time. Thank you for your review, doing a great job and loving the pics also.

deucbmac Posted May 21, 2010 Author #145 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Wow, this review is just getting better and better! The food porn photos just put me over the edge....:D We also have Your Time Dining on Pride in October, and want to know if we have dinner early the first night, say at 6:00, will we be finished in time to get back upstairs to see the ship sail under the Bay Bridges in Annapolis? If not, we'll be eating very late that night, because seeing those bridges are a top priority for us Marylanders.....;):) We went to dinner right after seeing the Francis Scott Key Bridge and by the time we came up we had just missed the Annapolis Bay bridges. I say eat a late lunch and then a late dinner to catch it all. Love your review........I love your door decorations except for the pesky PENS sign!!! ;) Halak shut out our CAPS too...... I love reading Pride reviews. We live on the Eastern Shore of MD and love seeing the ships sail under the Bay Bridge. A cruise out of Baltimore is high on our list!!! Take care, sandi go habs go !! Easy on the Pens now!!!!
deucbmac Posted May 21, 2010 Author #146 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Last year we had to take our vests and put them on. You aren't the first person with a Pride review that mentioned you didn't have to take the vests to muster. Is that something new? I do believe that life vests are not worn on any ship anymore for the muster drill after reading other threads. But it was so nice to not have to wear them and then take them back to the room. ;) sorry flyers are going to take it, GO FLYERS!!! I think they might take it. At least it is still a PA team!! :p k ty I still have time to decide. I will see what it looks like in November to late December and then I might try to hold off and only make that last minute reservation if needed. Thank you for your review, doing a great job and loving the pics also. Yeah, we left around 5:00 and got there by 9:30 and that was after we stopped in Breezwood to eat. I would just watch the weather and have a hotel on speed dial just in case. :)
Cruiser2B2 Posted May 21, 2010 #147 Share Posted May 21, 2010 We brought a power strip cord on the cruise and it didn't get conviscated. Guess we were lucky! Although we never needed to use it LOL
deucbmac Posted May 21, 2010 Author #148 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Alrighty, I just finished up my dinner and I do believe that is where I left off yesterday. So here we go.... We took a walk back to the room where I decided to try a little lipton on ice. As I did the Wife and Mother in the next room went out on our balconies and started capturing some gourgeous sights. I drank my Lipton and read the Fun Times to see what time the show started that night. The Welcome Aboard show didn't start until 10:30 so we went for a walk to explore the boat some more. Sandpiper10 Posted May 21, 2010 #149 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Adam, Absolutely loving your review so far. Can't wait to read the rest. We often considered going on the Pride, as we are from South Central PA. Would love to cruise under the Bay Bridge...in my 35 years, the Bay Bridge always meant us being 1/2 way to Ocean City, and it would have a whole new meaning to cruise under it on a Carnival boat. Not dealing with the flight to Miami would be awesome too! PS----Pens fan here!!!! :D
rcnhoward Posted May 21, 2010 #150 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Great review!!!! I can't wait to go back on the Pride. My wife has been making the chocolate melting cake about once a week. I think she is trying to tell me something!!
