SammieMC00 Posted May 27, 2010 #203 Share Posted May 27, 2010 We were on the same cruise - absolutely the best cruise ever. The food was the best yet!!! Too funny, we had Dwain the first night & requested him the rest of the week - he was great!!!! Oh so your the reason we couldn't get him the third time we requested him! LOL Just Kidding. As long as we had Dwain or Luis we were good. The other two waiters that we had were just not as good as we had hoped. They really didn't seem to want to interact with us like those two did. They did their job and that was all.
SammieMC00 Posted May 27, 2010 #204 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Your food porn pics are probably among the best I've ever seen. I want all of it!!!!! Over and over again!!!:D Thank you....it was a tough job to have each night at dinner. I just wanted to dig right in there were a few nights I forgot and took a bite or two and then tried to rearrange the food to take a picture! deucbmac Posted May 27, 2010 Author #206 Share Posted May 27, 2010 The next morning I woke up at around 8:30 by room service bringing my coffee and bagel. I had forgotten the night before that I had put an order on the door for the next morning. I really recomend this, especially if you are a coffee drinker. As long as you have it filled out with what you want and have it on the door by 5:00am when they come to collect it, you can have it delivered at anytime in the morning. It's really kinda nice on those mornings when you need to get off in a hurry for an early excursion. I personally like not having to run upstairs for a cup of coffee when a whole pot can be delivered to your room free of charge every morning. So, I signed for my room service, grabbed a cup of coffee, snatched up the Fun Times and hit the balcony which was still open from the night before. I shut the door so I wouldn't wake up the wife and enjoyed the coffee and the Fun Times! I read everything over and decided to get a shower, then head upside. I got clean and got dressed, then went hunting in the Mermaids Grille for some omelets. I came across some and a lot more food including some french toast. I headed out to the back aft pool area to find a seat when a came across my Dad. He had just sat down to eat also. By the time we finished eating, Mother and Sis had joined us. I went out on the deck in the sun and layed out for about 45 minutes or so. I got up and found that the wife had finally decided to join the party. She finished eating and came to join me in the sunning process. The deck filled up quite quickly and my sister did not have a spot near us to lay out. I wouldn't say chair hogs, it was just packed. The neighbors in the chair next to us were kind and moved down so that my sister could lay out also. We spent the majority of the day lounging around and partaking in a little alcohol consumption. We also went and checked out the pool which was a nice temperature, around 72-73. Mom and Dad floated around the ship and snagged a few shots including, Our Muster Station Some more of the Atlantic Deck, Deck 3 Some pretty Blue Water!!! deucbmac Posted May 27, 2010 Author #207 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Mom and Dad made their way around the boat including some more inside pics of the atrium. They also made their way through the other to pool areas, Apollo, and Venus where they came across the band just finishing up one of their performances, and the Hairy Chest Competition begining. They decided to head on back to the Poseidon pool area, Aft pool area to see what we were up to. They first snagged a picture of the oversized chess board This is what they found! Exciting isn't it! Hey, like I said before, It's Vacation!

We are so excited to have chosen the Pride for our first cruise! My DH is loving the food porn... Dawn, you guys could not have picked a better ship for your first. The pride was my first and just love the spirit class ships!
deucbmac Posted May 27, 2010 Author #209 Share Posted May 27, 2010 After passing out for a while, the Sis and I checked out the Poseidon Pool again We swam for a while, hit the hot tub for a little bit, and then hit up the killer lunch buffet. After the lunch buffet, I had to go take a snooze. Sam, Mom, and Sis, explored the boat for a little while and hit up the casino a little more, while Pops just chilled on the balcony in his room. After an hour or so of sleep a knock at the door woke me up. I went to the door to find room service there. I told them I had not ordered room service. The man proceeded to tell me that it was complimentary. I was totally conflustered. I signed the receipt and got the dish. There was a small card on top of it that said "Sorry." Sorry, who's sorry for what? I read the card which said that they were sorry that they could not seat us when we wanted to be seated the night before. Hmmmm. Ok. I took the lid off the tray to find... I later found out that the parents had gotten one too. I couldn't believe that they had appologized for a little wait of like 7 minutes. It was no big deal but just feltawesome that they cared that much. The peanut butter fudge was supreme, and the granola thingys, eeeeee not to sure. I mean they weren't bad but they weren't good. LOL.
deucbmac Posted May 27, 2010 Author #210 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Dawn, you guys could not have picked a better ship for your first. The pride was my first and just love the spirit class ships! We had the Inspiration, followed by the Sensation for the first two sailings. The fantasy class are nice ships and still provide a lot to offer. However, when we climbed aboard the Pride, a monsterous ship, we found that it was really easy to navigate. I am now a big fan of the Spirit Class and would love to try a few more.
Crusin Karen Posted May 27, 2010 #211 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Have never been on the Pride, but have done Spirit and Miracle, sister ships, a bunch of times. Did the Miracle when you were doing the Pride and TOTALLY LOVED IT. Booked the same thing for next year. We were on the Dream in November and were "neck and neck" with Pride going down to Nassau. (We won! :D) Food porn brings back a LOT of very special moments!!

Crusin Karen Posted May 28, 2010 #215 Share Posted May 28, 2010 I hear the Miracle is an awesome ship. That would be one my list of definate future ships. My favorite for color/design is the Spirit, but ALL the Spirit class ships are really awesome. Layouts are great and very easy to navigate. Don't have to go down one elevator, over and up another to get to the dining room. ;) Spirit sails out of San Diego which is my FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD and which we have cruised from twice, JUST to go to SD pre/post cruise. But since Manhattan terminal is 20 mins. from my doorstep, I have "settled" for the Miracle sailing out of here.:p

deucbmac Posted May 29, 2010 Author #217 Share Posted May 29, 2010 Sorry, Got wrapped up with a whole heap of stuff yesterday and I didn't make it on. So I'm gonna try to get some more of this review up. So, after the unexpected room service, I went back to the bed and fell back to sleep until the wife came in and joined me. Then we got up at about 4:00 or so to get cleaned up and ready for the past guest party. We headed off to the Taj Mahal around 4:30 and began our party. They handed out free drinks ;) , some Hor d' ervs, (sorry for the botchalism) and Kirk our CD climbed on the stage and talked for a little while. After his 5 or so minute speech we watched a little flick about the history of carnival and them thanking us for being a part of it. They kept welcoming us home! Can I go Home now? Please! At around 5:15 the party ended and so we just meandered the ship some more. This is a good time to bring up that the Pride and I am assuming the rest of the Spirit class ships are very easy to navigate. My buddy just returned from a cruise on the Liberty, which is in the Conquest class, and said that he loved the ship just disliked the layout. Ok, so anyway after looking around in the photo gallery and what not, we decided to head back to the Normandie Dining Room and get dinner. We walked past all the people trying to get in for the Early Seating and got our table immediently. They all looked sort of confused, but I was feeling special. Viewer Discretion: Rated R for Food Porn! Our Starters tonight featured: Smoked Chicken Quesadilla Fresh Fruit Cocktail Obviously we were a little lax on the photos tonight. deucbmac Posted June 1, 2010 Author #221 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Alright, Its been an insane past couple days, maybe we can a little more done. So, after finishing up dinner, we headed on down to the Taj Mahal for the show. We stopped along the way to catch a pic of the sunset. The Show tonight was a man by the name of Doug MacCraw, and he was a Hypnotist. Well, I'm not one to believe in Hypnosis, however this guy was for real. He had people doin all kinds of things. Nothing crazy, but very funny. After the show was over we swung by to see Roger in the Ivory Bar, however for the 3rd night in a row, he wasn't there. Where was Roger? We had no idea. We just continued back toward the room. We stopped in at Beauties Dance Club, however it just wasn't our kind of music so we snapped a couple not so good shots and continued to our room. Once we reached the room, we came across...... We got changed and made our way outside to our balcony to sit and relax. The sky ended up clearing a little and we had a spectacular view of the stars. The parents hung out on their deck for a little while but we all kind of retired early cause of our excursions the next day in Florida! Mom and Sis were heading off to Nasa, while Pops, Sam, and I were goin to Ron Jon's and Cocoa Beach.

bermudagal56 Posted June 1, 2010 #223 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Really enjoying your review. Very interested to hear about Cocoa Beach since I think we're going to spend the day there. We went there on our april cruise for the day. It was nice. we first went to the ron jon shop and then walked over to the beach which was just across the street. We got there by bus which we got on right outside of the ship. You dont have to book thru the cruise, its cheaper to go on your own. When you get off the ship walk to your right and the buses are right there. I dont recall the exact price but its much cheaper than what the ship charges. Also you can rent chairs & umbrellas on the beach and there are convenience stores nearby to get drinks or food. There are restrooms there too. deucbmac Posted June 2, 2010 Author #224 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Alright, so the next morning while the wife and I slept, Mom and Sis woke up early to grab a bite to eat and then hop on their Nasa Tour. They went thru the cruiseline on this excursion. They got up just before the sun began to make an apperance.
SammieMC00 Posted June 2, 2010 #225 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Really enjoying your review. Very interested to hear about Cocoa Beach since I think we're going to spend the day there. I'll save the majority of the info on Coco Beach for Adam to share, but I do have to say that it was the nicest cleanest beach that I have been to in the US. We did take the bus provided by Carnival it was $15.95/person and the bus ran every 1/2 hr back to the port so you could leave whenever you wished. We went to CVS first to pick up some things we realized that we forgot and then went to Ron Jon and browsed for awhile. Went to the Beach for the remainder of the day. The waves were high but it wasn't rough waves. It was very easy to go through them out into the ocean. Also there is a 7-11 close by to pick up some cool beverages. Hopefully Adam will share that story. IF he doesn't i'll be sure to tell it!
