Anyone done a whalewatching tour ?

Recommended Posts

I have never done a whale watching tour from either, but I have sailed out of New Foudland before in July/August on a Navy Ship and it was insane the amount of Whales that we saw down along the coast. I think I saw about 15 Hump backs in one day. Not sure if it is always like that but I hear it is not uncommon. No idea about Quebec though.

Thanks, We have done tours off the coast of Nova Scotia before .(2 hour) Just wasn't sure whether whales were easily seen from the ships or how plentiful they were after cruising around the tip of N.S.:)

A great deal depends upon the time of year. Whales do go into the St. Lawrence river I believe in late summer.

I just did a search on Trip Advisor for whale watching in Newfoundland and see that June to September is best and September may be a bit late.

Thanks for trying. Maybe we will luck up and see them. If not we will still have a relaxing cruise.:)

I just checked for whale watching Oct. 11 in St. John's NB Crown Princess stop. There are no whale watching excursions private or ship because the boats go out for whale watching and can not guarantee they will return in time to GURANTEE that you will be back on board by 6 PM. You could do the whale watching out of St. Andrews by renting a car driving the 90 minutes or so to St. Andrews and then hoping that you got back. Too big a risk for me.
