Questions about Princess Cays Island

Just wondering about the stop at Princess Cays Island:

How big is the island? Are you able to walk to all of the beach activities?

How does the Clam Shell lounge rentals work? Can you move them around or are you stuck in one place? Are they worth the $?

Do they serve food on the island or do you have to go back on the ship to eat lunch? If so, do you need to pay extra for the food or is it part of your cruise meals?

Is there any good snorkeling off of the beach?

Thanks!!!

The beach area has shading under palm trees to escape the sun or just lay on lougers in the sun. Folks rent these small one room cabins with table & chairs inside that they pull out, use the shower outside & another area of them that is ADULT ONLY. Then you can walk a bridge backwards to see wha you may want to see or not want to be around a cemetary & other areas.

A BUFFET of hot dogs, burgers, chicken, ribs, ad the side dishes & 3 bowls of fruit: pineapple, melons, & melons & pineapple mixed.

We went back to the ship when we knew the BBQ was on the beach cooking us, so a cold shower felt great as did the pools onboard. with no one around them.

Snorkel gear is there to rent & snorkel but folks saw nothing much as they complained.

Nice size island, but YES you can easily walk to all the areas where activities are held

You can sign up through your Excursion area on Princess Website to rent the Clam Shells...they run around $20.00 and have two loungers inside of them. YES...they are well worth the money to give shade while enjoying the beach

YES, they have a buffet at two different locations on the beach. They serve BBQ, Hotdogs and Burgers...plus various other sides, fruit, and desserts with Ice Tea. Bars are located throughout the beach area.

Never did the snorkeling there so can't give you an opinion on that.

Thanks!!!

See above in your quote for my answers. Hope you have a great time

You are transported to PC via tender boats as the pier there is not large enough for the ships to dock there. The beach area is right off the pier area. There are a couple of souvenir shops ( very small ). The buffet provided is no extra charge but alcoholic drinks and soda are extra charge like on the ship.

Princess Cays is actually the southern tip of Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas. The island is 110 miles long so it is plenty big. Princess has developed the PC area into a lush tropical paradise. Complementary food is served BBQ style and there is plenty of shade if you look for it. Snorkeling is spotty, but lots of fish can be seen next to the rocky jetty to the left of the beach area.

I've found the snorkeling to be very good between the gazebo and the private cabanas. Have spotted several eels hiding out and lots of colorful fishies, needlefish. Now the water can be a little chilly depending on what time of year you go but I've always seen lots of fish.

Here's a great CC thread: Princess Cays - Compiled Info : Beach/Water activities, Food/Drinks, Bungalows, Facts

Princess Cays is our favorite "beach day". We've always gotten one of the bungalows. Although many people think they're too expensive, it's worth it to us to have a semi-private area with air conditioning & shelter available.

Enjoy your day!
