Fascination 5/15 - 5/20/2010

I'm not going to post a long review. Just the highlights of some of the things going around this board regarding Carnival and this particular ship.

Embarkation: Since there was the bomb threat a week or so before our cruise, security was tight. We didn't get to the port until about 1:30 or 2pm and the line was loonnnggg! I was worried about our smuggled items since security was so tight. The line acutally moved pretty quickly.

Our luggage arrived within a couple of hours and all of our rum runners were there. My flat iron for my hair was there also...whew!

Only experienced the sewage smell once in our stateroom. We were in and out and it was never there again.

This ship is kept in top shape and crew was very friendly. The only area where there was room for improvement was one of the people that worked the pizza counter. He didn't like to fix anything out of the ordinary and there was always a wait for pizza.

I loved the Mongolian Grill stir fry...I ate there 3 times during the trip.

Dinner every night was great. We had anytime dining and would recommend it. It was really nice not having to plan around a certain time.

We had a balcony room and was pretty much as expcected. Room M249. Ordered coffee and croissants every morning to enjoy on our balcony.

Our friends loved the piano bar with Dana. Too smokey for me and I'm not into a lot of the type of music he was playing.

Speaking of smoking, my husband and I noticed a lot more indoor smoking on this ship than any of the other 4 we've been on. Casino (expected), piano bar, disco, outside another bar/show area (the name escapes me now). We frequent the discos and haven't encounted smoking in them before.

Our friends were able to get more liquer back on in Nassau. We didn't try as we still had enough.

Before any of the non smugglers jump on me, we spent $500 on our sign and sail. Our friends that came with us spent $500 and $1000.

Overall, no big complaints. I would sail this ship again. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

My son and I were also on this cruise May 15-20 and the pizza guy seemed to be very upset with the rude people who walked up and tried to get in front of those waiting in line. I was there late at night and he didn't want to wait on the very drunk loud people, but most times he seemed to be very helpful.

I didn't find the pizza guy to be overly friendly, but never saw him rude when we were there on May 1. We got pizza just about every day. Hopefully these were just off times for him. Or maybe I just was in too much vacation bliss to notice.
