Currency for panama canal cruise

We will be going on the Coral Princess full transit of the Canal in September. We have been wondering if we will need local currency for the places we will be visiting - Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Aruba or if they all accept the US Dollar.

When we did the Panama Canal cruise US Dollars were accepted at all of the ports on the trip.

 

You will enjoy this cruise - we did!

We stopped at most of those places on our Panama Canal cruise and US $$ were accepted everywhere. If you use a credit card, it will likely be charged in the local currency and converted over by your credit card issuer (which can also include a fee)

 

Enjoy the cruise. Definitely a cruise itinerary not to be missed.

I just sailed this cruise last month on the Island Princess. US Dollars were welcome everywhere.

Thanks everyone for your replies. We are really looking forward to this trip. A friend is just off the Sea Princess - different itinerary but it did the full transit. Just need to get all the info from her now.

I did the full transit in January, a partial transit in April. US$ anywhere/everywhere. It's a terrific cruise. I'd do it again.
