Solstice Library

We've taken many Celebrity cruises, but the one coming up will be our first on Solstice. Can anyone tell us about the library onboard; i.e. new fiction, bestsellers, good selection? Thanks, as always, for your help.

The library is always a hit or miss situation on every ship. If you are there first, paperbacks left by the previous cruisers will offer a better selection than what the ship offers. There will be many empty spaces if you delay visiting the library immediately upon arrival.. There is no librarian so books have a tendency to develop legs.. We generally bring along books to swap.

The S-class libraries are pretty large and well-appointed when you compare them to comparable ships of that size. As always, the best books go first, but I remember they had large travel and childrens' sections.

Additionally, it is a visually stunning space, overlooking the atrium, live tree, and glass elevators. Usually very quiet and underutilized, as well.

Here are some pictures from Solstice. Note that most books are above ceiling level and are for show only:

I found the offering much inferior to the choice available on Constellation and Infinity. The first three pictures show the main portion of about 5 shelves each, the last two are port side and starboard side locations.

Make sure you check out the racks outside the main part of the library. I was able to find several books in those locations that I liked.

As far as it being a quiet place, it can be hit or miss. Several times when we went by, there were people playing cards at the tables.
