ochos rios beaches

arriving via carnival liberty to Ochos Rios..... would like to try a beach day,nice beach that is safe........ any suggestions??

We cruised there 5/16 on Freedom and booked the Bamboo Beach Club Excursion. You walk down the pier and wait at the end for your guide and get on the bus right there. You do have to be careful, as my husband was boarding the bus, (and this was a "safe" area) 4 bus drivers around my age (44) were huddled waiting to go and one of them pulled my elbow and I had to take a step backwards and he grinned and mumbled "Hey good-looking" and something in between I didn't understand, then something about my momma? When I got on the bus I informed my husband to stay behind and not in front of me! :eek:

 

We took a short ride to the beach, it was great, there are chairs/lounges, ask for a towel if you need to, food and drink are included, beer,mojitos,rum punch, sausage, jerk chicken, cinnamon sticks, macaroni/gravy. Very pretty place, music, dancing, dancers, about 4 hrs., they take you back and you have about 45-1 hr to shop, have them drop you at Tajmahal shopping, it is safer and no haggling, just be firm w/your answers. On the short walk back to the pier was asked by a local if we smoked marijuana and DH, trying to be funny, said "No, Mon, just ganja", :D (Jamaican marijuana). Just tell them no and keep walking.
