tahqa Posted June 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Happy Wednesday! It's a beautiful morning here in Orlando and it's time again to name that ship! :) This one is going to be different today. This is NOT a Royal Caribbean ship, now or ever. But this ship is iconic and was important to the cruise industry as a whole. Can anyone name this ship? :) http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31326309&l=068cd13eae&id=1157109459 I'm sorry if the picture doesn't come through because of facebook being blocked, but this is the easiest way for me to host the pictures. :o

nanfromatlanta Posted June 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Loks an awful lot like the Love Boat (Pacific Princess).
Silque1964 Posted June 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2010 It's definitely the Pacific Princess. Note the distinct LACK of balconies.
billsgal Posted June 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Pacific Princess - The Love Boat. Doesn't even come close to looking like the Song of America or any RCI ship, for that matter;) Note the lack of a Viking Crown Lounge which distinguished all RCI ships from those belonging to any other line. mjldvlks Posted June 2, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2010 The Princess emblem on the funnel is also a clue. (As well as the fact the exact same pic is in the Wikipedia article about the Pacific Princess)

schmeed Posted June 2, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Rescue vessel# 4 from Oasis of the Seas;):p JK, of course it´s the Love boat;) LOL! Probably not that far from the truth. And another reason I don't want to be on a ship with 5000+ other people. :)

tahqa Posted June 2, 2010 Author #13 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Pacific Princess [the original one] -- the original Love Boat. Yup, it's the original Pacific Princess... otherwise known as the Love Boat. The show starring this ship aired on ABC from 1977 to 1986 and was essentially free advertising for cruising. The show helped to make cruise vacations more mainstream. The Pacific Princess was 550 ft long and held 640 passengers, btw. To put that in perspective the Song of Norway was 628 feet long and held 1196 passengers and Oasis of the Seas is 1181 feet long with 5400 passengers! :D
maitaiguy Posted June 2, 2010 #14 Share Posted June 2, 2010 I saw a picture some time ago. It was a pier in the Caribbean with the Pacific Princess on one side and Adventure of the Seas on the other side. What a tremendous difference.
