Snorkeling at Horseshoe Reef

My family and I are planning to do a snorkeling excursion through the cruiseline at Horseshoe Reef this October. My husband and I have been snorkeling before in other parts of the world but this will be the first time for my two young children (ages 5 and 9). I'm wondering if anyone's had experience snorkeling there during that time of year? How's the water temperature? Was it too cold?

Crusinmermaid, if your children have never snorkeled, get them a snorkel and mask they can use in a pool this summer. If they are very comfortable with the snorkel, it will help them enjoy the scenery even more. No leaky mask + comfortable with snorkel = less whining and more fun when snorkeling. (I know because I was the whiner, not DD)
