I read in someone's recent Elation review that they do offer it and it is $55. But - this is second hand information. Hopefully, someone who has gone on the tour can confirm this.

I would like to know the difference of this tour on shorter cruises.

 

I know the 7 day cruise costs 99.00. so what does the 5 day cruises NOT do since I hear its only 55.00

(55.00 is a lot more affordable then 99.

From Carnival FQA - For those who want to get an insider’s look at the inner-workings of a Carnival “Fun Ship,” the line has created Behind the Fun, a guided tour that provides guests with a unique insight into the company’s shipboard operations.

Behind the Fun is offered fleetwide. On 3/4/5 day cruises, a shortened version of the described tour below will be approximately 2 hours and cost $55 per person.

On cruises 6 days or longer, the informative 3-1/2 hour tour offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at a wide range of shipboard venues that are normally off limits to guests. During the tour, key shipboard personnel, including the captain, chief engineer, chef de cuisine and other department heads, share their vast knowledge in their particular area of expertise.

Behind the Fun begins with a stop backstage in the main show lounge where participants can see exactly what goes into creating Carnival’s award-winning revues. The tour then moves on to normally restricted areas such as the laundry room, crew galley and dining room, crew gym and crew training center.

Next it’s on to the expansive main galley where talented culinary artists prepare upwards of 12,000 meals and snacks a day for Carnival’s guests. The tour also includes a visit to the ship’s bridge and engine control room and informative Q&A sessions with the captain and chief engineer, respectively.

In addition to a comprehensive overview of Carnival’s shipboard operations, Behind the Fun participants receive a number of commemorative gifts, including a custom-made Behind the Fun baseball cap and lanyard, a Team Carnival Picture Perfect book with stunning photographs of Carnival ships and destinations taken by the line’s employees and complimentary photos with the captain on the bridge.

Behind the Fun tours can be booked through the ships’ shore excursion desk. The cost is $95 per person and capacity is limited to 16 guests per tour. Guests must be 13 or older to participate; anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

So I wonder what they cut out to make it 2 hours instead of 3.

We just did Behind the Fun on Elation last Wednesday and it was great. It was 3 hours long, actually a bit longer than that. They took us all through the kitchen, the dancer's dressing rooms/stage area, down to the bottom of the ship, level 3, where everything is stored, the laundry area, the garbage area, the offices of the training crew (who hosted this tour), the area where crew members can further their education, learning new languages and taking advanced English (for free), the engine control room, the bridge where they showed us all the instrumentation they use to run the ship. We met the Captain and had a group picture with him. When we got back to the room, they had (for each of us) a plate with 4 choc. covered strawberries and a couple of other little treats. The group picture was delivered later that night (slid under the door where we found it when we came back from dinner). It was money well spent, in my opinion. $55 per person.

Yes, everything jax said. DH took this tour in April and he loved it.

 

Smaller ship, lower price.

 

He did say that there were some tricky stairs in one place, which is why I didn't go. Go for it ! :)

Those stairs were very steep and narrow, but had really good hand rails on both sides, which made it not so bad. I'm horrible on stairs so I held on and went up and down them rather slowly. Not a problem. The other stairs were just the regular stairs like on the outside decks. I was very glad I went.

I'm just going to bring cash to cover the cost and sign us up for it. Then he won't know. LOL

ok, I am definitely glad I asked about this. I'm going to book for both of us and if he finds out about the cost he will just have to get over it! everyone says it's worth it.

We went to the pursers desk and bought the ticket as soon as we got on the ship. The slots sell out fast.

When I took the tour on the Fantasy I was told that the cost was based on the size of the ship and time it takes to do the tour. It has nothing to do with the length of cruise.
