Carnival Glory compared to Caribbean Princess?

Hi all...hubby and I went on our first cruise 2 years ago on the Caribbean Princess, it was a four day cruise in a balcony room and we have been looking forward to cruising again because we absolutely loved it. We are looking at a 7 day on the Carnival Glory leaving Nov. 14.

Any opinions or comparisons between the two ships?

Thanks!!

DH & I did a 7 day on CB in October 2005 and a 7 day on Carnival Glory this March.

The biggest difference I noticed is that the CB is a bit more elegant in design where Glory is more colorful. They are both very representative of the type of cruise line.

I enjoyed both cruises immensely. We had a balcony cabin on both. On the CB we brought one of those over the door shoe thingys (as many on here recommend) and found we really did need it! There is definitely more closet space on Glory.

On Glory we brought it, and did use it but really found it wasn't necessary. It was more handy, but definitely there was more than enough storage space. The cabin on Glory seemed a bit bigger to me also. Of course, time could be altering my memory, but it just felt less cramped, but with a similar layout.

The CB was easier to navigate. There wasn't a lot of up & down to get from one end to the other, where as the Glory seems to have mastered the art of labyrinth design. I am, by nature, very geographically challenged so this made for an interesting cruise for me.

I, personally, preferred the food on Carnival. I felt there was better variety & more flavor.

Staff on both ships were very pleasant & professional at all times. I think the Glory had more activities going at all hours, where as the CB tended more towards shows in the evenings. The casino on both ships was very similar.

As a side note, I much preferred embarkation in Miami over FLL.

In the end, I have to say my preference is for Carnival. The other passengers were more of a similar mindset. More relaxed and casual, more in a "vacation" mode than "cruising" mode (if that makes sense).

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more specific questions and I'll happily try to answer them for you.

Thank you so much! You eased my mind, I really didn't want be disappointed. It sounds great! The cruise that we're looking at does leave from Miami. It goes to Belize, Cozumel, Roatan, and Grand Cayman. I have never been to any of those ports and they sound amazing!

I'll take a shot at it. I sailed both and would do either again.

These are my opinions and others may disagree.

1. Decor: Caribbean Princess hands down. I thought the warm cream and brown was more pleasing to the eye. I don't get that hung up over the decor, but you asked for opinions. Actually I couldn't even describe the decor of the Glory, it just didn't stick, and frankly all the Carnival ships are beginning to blend together for me. I guess Carnival tends to be more flashy.

2. Food: I really couldn't tell any difference. I did miss my fruit punch and soft serve ice cream on the Lido deck while aboard the CB (Caribbean Princess), but Carnival has cut the fruit punch as well. For me the food was a draw.

3. Entertainment: The CB has a smaller main lounge (theater) than the Glory. You can sit up in the rafters aboard the Glory, but bring binoculars (lol). At least late comers have a place to go aboard the Glory. You'll find plenty of entertainment in the hallways aboard both ships, but the CB had Bert Stratton when we sailed and he was a big draw.

4. Layout: Again I would go with the CB on this one. The secondary lounge was in the middle of the ship instead of being at the back of the ship. I loved the most of the rear layout of the CB. I spent a lot of time at the aft bar watching the wake. I thought the dance club aboard the CB was a little weird. You get a lot of bounce up there at the very rear of the ship perched on that little ledge. It was so rocky one night the only people dancing there were the show dancers. The dance club aboard the Glory was more amidships. It was a teen club during the day.

5. Cabins: I noticed the balconies were bigger aboard the CB. This may not be a fair comparison because I had a mini-suite aboard the CB and a regular cabin aboard the Glory. Carnival's cabins are of decent size and there was plenty of storage space. I'm told the regular Carnival cabins are larger than the regular Princess cabins.

The bottom line is that I had a great time aboard both ships. I don't have any real negatives about the Glory so I wouldn't have a problem booking it again. You're going to find the same deck parties, the same sales pitches, art sales, jewelry by the inch sales, watch sales, and so on. For me the CB was different only because it was my first non-Carnival cruise. I'm back aboard Carnival this fall.

Thanks! You guys are making me feel so much better about choosing the Glory! Pretty close to booking it now!...Oh one more question...it looks like in some pics that I saw there was a movie screen at the pool and in some pics there wasn't...what gives?

That screen was just put up a few months ago when she went into the most recent drydock. :)

Never been on Princess, and I don't know that the ship made the cruise or not, but we had a lot of fun on Glory on that same itinerary. :)
