SASMITH Posted June 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Will the BP oil spill affect any of RCI itineraries?
Poorplaya Posted June 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I do not know for sure, I have not seen RCI announce anything yet, but it very well could. The whole oil spill situation is just plain sad. This has gone on far too long and this should have been solved weeks ago.
schmeed Posted June 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I've not heard of any itinerary changes to date, but that doesn't mean it won't/can't happen. Be sure to check the RCI website (www.rccl.com) frequently as they will post any news about changes if necessary.
BroncosFan2010 Posted June 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I doubt it will affect any of the destinations, but it may affect the home ports of some of the ships. I would keep watching the RCCL website and news before making any plans to cancel a cruise, or book a cruise more than a few months out.
yogimax Posted June 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I would keep watching the RCCL website. They certainly have more up to date info than we do.
calmpets Posted June 4, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2010 I was just wondering about this the other day, as I'm scheduled to sail out of Tampa in October on the Radiance. If the oil reaches the shore in Tampa, can ships stills sail from that port? Or do they need to leave from a different port? I know this scenario has never come up before, so it's all speculation. I also know Carnival is still sailing from Mobile and New Orleans, but I believe they are able to circumvent the spill.
travelntreats Posted June 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Will the BP oil spill affect any of RCI itineraries? Time will tell.... no one knows for certain at this point.
futaba951 Posted June 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Today is the first day that I have smelled oil in the air at my house. It smells like kerosene. I live 3 miles from the Gulf near the AL/MS line. I guess we will have a long summer of this to deal with.

It shows the oil going up the entire east coast of Florida and into North Carolina. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1212913&highlight=
Admin Posted June 4, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Please stick to the question asked. If members want to discuss something other than cruising, there are sites for that. Thanks!
