potterduck Posted June 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2010 Is there a limit on alcohol purchased in ports, I know they'll take it off me as I return to ship and return it on last day(hopefully!). I'm not asking so i can drink on board but to bring real sherry etc home as gifts. Sailing out of Southampton so no flights are involved.
John Henry on CC Posted June 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2010 The limit is not on how much you buy, but on how much your home country allows you to bring in. Check with them.
MedicKen Posted June 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2010 The limit set for brining alcohol in is the amount you are permitted DUTY FREE. If you exceed that number you are required to pay duty (import tax) on it. Bring as much as you want home, just be prepared to pay for it. That being said, a lot of the customs agents are really thoughtful when it comes to being a bit over.
potterduck Posted June 7, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 7, 2010 Thanks for that, just checked on customs & excise website - 110 litres of beer 90 litres of wine 10 litres of spirits 20 litres of fortified wine There's no way I could buy that much!!!
