Jewel or Gem

Considering a New Year's Cruise. The Jewel & the Gem has the same itinerary out of New York with 1 day difference. Either one will work for me.

 

Any opinions/suggestions/differences between ships??? that could influence in my decision-making

We may be interested in the same cruise this fall/winter as well. Any ideas if the Gem is nicer than the Jewel? Or vice versa? Off to go read reviews...
