Smoking on Jewel of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Have just booked a last minute cruise to the Baltic and have now read some negative reviews that smoking is allowed in some of the bars.

We usually travel with P&O and smoking is only on deck...?

We don't smoke and don't usually mind it - but have now got used to the smoke free UK pub's....

Appreciate if anyone can confirm exactly which bars have smoking and is it really the annoyance that have been quoted on some reviews..

Thanks

On most RCL ships there are some smoking areas, I am not sure about Jewel, we will be on her in 2 weeks, but I book RCL as I am a non smoker and find RCL and X the best options. (Indy is very restricted :) )

There is likey to be one bar where smoking is allowed, and it is usually allowed in the Casino, on most nights, but there are many many more places that are completely free of smoke :) Like P&O there is no smoking allowed in cabins, so no residue is left, that is a big plus for us. (According to the P&O web site they also had a bar inside that allowed smoking until April 2010).

There is a very useful article on sruise line smoking policies at http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=225

I am hyper sensitive to smoke, and do not usually have any problems with RCL (but I do not go the the casino).

I was on the Jewel in April. Smoking was permitted on your balcony, The Cigar Bar, Casino, and certain areas around the pool.

I'm a non-smoker so if I missed something its because I was paying attention.

Just be glad that you are not going on the Navigator of the Seas. Just back from a transatlantic and it seemed like smoke was everywhere. In the Pub, which is right on the promenade. In The Dungeon, casino, schooner bar, sports bar, balcony, etc. Such a shame because otherwise a great ship and crew.

I will be looking at cruise lines with less smoking areas for my next trip.
