soccercoach1 Posted June 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2010 We will be sailing on the Carnival Legend in August and are thinking of doing the X-Stream Cave Tubing excursion. I have seen good write ups about this excursion but, seen some issues with Carnival making non Carnival tours wait for tenders after the Carnival tours have left. Does anyone know what time the depatures are for the X-Stream cave tubing excursion? Will we have troubles getting off the ship in time?
RidleyCrew Posted June 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2010 Nah... (oh, hello) If they say to meet in the Follies lounge by 7am for tenders, be there at 6.55am. We have never been bumped off the first tender - probably because no one is crazy enough to get UP THAT EARLY!! In fact, the first tender we took to Belize in 08 was only about 1/3 full. The trip out to the river is spectacular - the jungle is gorgeous! Take ONLY a fanny pack with a small bug spray, sunglasses, waterproof camera (disposable works great) and maybe some sunscreen on the tube; leave everything else in a backpack or beach bag on the bus INCLUDING YOUR TOWEL. Everything you take will get wet! (I carried a bottle of water, and I did drink it, but it was a hassle!) They will give you a MINER HEADLIGHT (like they use in the coal mines) for when you are inside the caves - DARK AS HECK!! - And yea, you will ALL look funny with them on, but everyone will have them on - not like we are out to impress anyone, right? Water shoes - no flip flops...flip flops may come off in the river. When you get out, you can change your clothes, but in August, we may simply just dry off via evaporation. Its awesome, its cool, its easy going, (no rapids) its "refreshing" - aka, cold at times. And hopefully the guides have some personality - that makes the trip so much more worthwhile! ;) We need to be mindful of the weather, however - if it rains, the runoff can sometimes make the tubing dangerous and they do cancel if the water levels are too high. dcikon2 Posted June 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2010 As the previous post mentioned, get there early for the tender. We had no difficulty getting a tender for 4 people. I liked not being part of a large group. The water is a bit cool!
