Off the Dream yesterday-Ask Away!

Disembarked the Dream yesterday. Back home in AZ. Had a wonderful time. Lido Deck balcony was great, spent time in a Cove Balcony as well and must say they are seriously great as well. Food was delicious; MDR no disappoints, pasta and burrito bar are nothing short of fantastic. Steakhouse is spectacular. MDR staff was remarkable. The ship is very clean, yes the poo smell is all over at various times. Drainpipe tube slide is very fun. 2 pools are too small and disappointing as was the live music onboard, just not lively enough. Laser show is not worth the electricity they use to attempt it. Overall a very fun cruise (I mean, how can they not be?). I'll be happy to take questions.

Oh, nothing got confiscated. The power strip was not confiscated, the curling and flat irons brought on board did not get confiscated. 2 sets of rum runners made it on as well as 2 oversize bottles of wine in the carry on's. My mother even got a travel iron onboard.

Thanks for the post!

Where abouts was your Lido balcony? We are doing the Eastern Carib in Jan and are trying to decide on a room.

Never cruised before.

DH thinks Lido will be the handiest, but I am concerned about noise. I originally thought a cove, but am worried it will be too cool since it is covered. Now debating between a Spa room or aft balcony on 6 or 7 or side balcony on 7 or 8.

Where was your cove? I will be in 2349 in about a month- could you hear any noise from right above?

Hoops you will be occupying the same cabin we are booked in for first week in September. We booked that cabin because it is quiet according to someone else on CC that staying in it. You are above the dining room so a good nights sleep you will get. Plus the dining room has carpeting whereas the galley is flooring, noisy dishwashing machines, and dishes being dropped.

I was on the same cruise, and it was the best cruise ive taken. Total relaxation. I was on deck 11 and spent a lot of time taking advantage of the thesso pool and thermal suite. The smell was there just a couple of times and not bad until yesterday morning and it was so bad it woke me up. I would also recommend the mud room. For $95 me and DP Shane had the room for an hour pampering ourselves with all sorts of products. Well worth it.

The ship is large and at first I found the layout of the ship very odd but came to enjoy it.

Was your stateroom on the Lido? If so, can I ask what cabin? We are sailing in 12 days in 10264, it's why I'm curious.

My DH wants to know if you remember if they have Caffeine Free Diet Coke or not. He's absolutely addicted to the stuff and we've heard conflicting reports of it's existence on the Dream.

Glad to hear that no Rum Runners or curling/flat irons were confiscated, you give me hope :D

Wow, lots of great questions. I'll see what I can answer..

Disembarkation was painless at best, very smooth, no worries.

Our Lido deck cabin 10240 was great. No noise above or below, a great choice. You'd be very safe with the Cove as well. I'd stick with the Lido or the Cove and you'll be very pleased with either.

We personally paid no attention to the big screen and what was on it. I have one at home and have no need for tv while cruising however, There are plenty of tv's in the casino bar and I am more than positive World Cup will be on all of them as the NBA Finals were on throughout the week.

The crowds were fairly typical, nothing horrible. My advice is to go to get food right around 1:45-2:15 right before the lunch closes at 2:30 and to get your meals from the Tandoori, Pasta Bar or Burrito Bar..totally delicious!

Don't know anything about Diet Coke...sorry..

We had late dining, it was great. We don't like early dining, cuts into the day and port times we feel.

We also had the spa package and loved it! The steam/sauna rooms, thalosso pool and private lockers were so relaxing and quiet.

We did the Eastern Carib. Nassau; chartered a sailboat and enjoyed a quiet day at an empty island beach snorkeling. St. Thomas; Got Married! In the morning at Limetree Beach resort. It was beautiful, came back to the ship for pictures, the Dream photographs very well. Got back off the ship for a little shopping and also went to the beach at Morning Star Beach. Went to the Steakhouse for dinner and words cannot describe how amazing the meal was. St. Maarten; a little shopping, flagged a taxi for a quick trip to the French side, a couple of beaches and lunch on the beach. On the sea days hung out with friends and family and on our balcony.

Hot tubs; yes, they were usually full...of kids.. as the evening progressed though they quieted down, there are a lot of them so finding a slow one is not difficult.

HEY PC...Congratulations on your marriage!!!:) What a great way to tie the knot.

Thanks for the posting...

To the poster asking about caffeine free diet coke. Last month, I saw a can of it on the table where they had soda card signups by the wave pool on the first day.

Was there coverage on the big screen at the pool? My sons are hoping to see as many of the world cup games as they can when we sail.... in 11 days!

I'd try putting in requests to the CD. Was on the Conquest last week and Chris showed the GBR vs USA game last week on the big screen, but without the commentary. Had to go to the Sports Bar if you wanted to hear it. But apparently there were lots of requests to have it shown outside. Good luck!

I've never seen sports shown on the big screens. But as long as they can pick up the channel, the sports bar down near the casino will almost certainly be showing the games.
