tammi67 Posted June 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Could someone please tell me if they keep the kids in the AO Club the entire time, or do they take them out to participate in activities throughout the ship? TIA!
crusinmama06 Posted June 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Age of the kids? It makes a difference. :D And the schedules are at the link in my signature. :)
tammi67 Posted June 15, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Oh yeah, I guess that might help. DS is 10 and DD is 8, but I'm going to put her in the 9-11 group with him. Tks!
Uncle Fester Posted June 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Oh yeah, I guess that might help. DS is 10 and DD is 8, but I'm going to put her in the 9-11 group with him. Tks! I seem recall the older group (9 to 11) doing some sort of events outside the room. However, putting your daughter with the older group may not be an option. RCCL seems to be fairly strict about their age classifications, and you can find many anecdotes on these boards about the AO staff being pretty strident about not moving kids up in age groups. It doesn't mean you can't ask, and on our last cruise in October they combined the 6 to 8 and 9 to 11 age groups, but I would recommend you don't make strict plans around the assumption that they will be in the same group. Jo and Rob Posted June 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Could someone please tell me if they keep the kids in the AO Club the entire time, or do they take them out to participate in activities throughout the ship? TIA! I went back to pick up my son from Explorers and there was a note on the door saying they had gone to WJ. It was not a problem and I signed him out from there. All children are given a muster bracelet on boarding so if there is an emergency they will be escorted to the correct muster station and while the children are in club they were are computer chip bracelet which is only taken off when you sign them out with your sea pass (make sure you have your sea pass with you are you will not be able to collect your children)
Uncle Fester Posted June 16, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Could someone please tell me if they keep the kids in the AO Club the entire time, or do they take them out to participate in activities throughout the ship? TIA! In going back and looking at the schedules from the previous cruise, they took them to the sports deck several times, which is on a different deck than the AO rooms. crusinmama06 Posted June 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Tammi, just be prepared that they won't allow you to move her up to the 9-11 year old group. They are more willing to move down than to move up. So you can ask, but be prepared for a NO. ;) The 6-8's and 9-11's do leave the rooms. They go to the theatre for a show. They go to the sports deck. They have a talent show. They go to the other rooms (raid the older rooms one night). They have the pirate parade and a circus in the Promenade. So yes, they do leave those rooms.
