Saving Money on Parking

This tip worked in Norfolk, and I know it was also available in Miami:

We drove two cars to Norfolk. Parking at the Port would have cost us $135 for each car ($270 total). Instead we stayed in a local hotel for $100; the price included a dinner and breakfast. We then left the cars (with the hotel's permission) in their lot for the week - no charge.

We had friends who drove us to the port. Even if you had to taxi or shuttle (and pay for it), you would still save tons of money. Wherever you're crusing from, if you're driving to the port you should look into this (in Norfolk numerous hotels offered this service - they just didn't advertise it; you had to call and ask directly).

Instead of a long drive to port, we had a relaxing morning. We had a meal at night (Residence Inn), nice buffet in the AM, and saved $170!

My guess would be this won't work in New York, but it should work in many other ports. It can't hurt to try!
