St John NB Arrival at 4:40am!

Recommended Posts

Our cruise arrives in St John NB at 4:40am in October. The ship departs at 3:00pm. Can anyone tell us what time "the world opens" in St John? Any suggestions on what to do in this limited time frame?

What day and ship will you be on? The schedule from the port shows ships arriving at 7:00 AM at the earliest - I was just curious. Vendors and tourism operators will be available as soon as you get off the ship - the City Market will be open at 7:30 and street shops by 9:00. 3:00 PM leaves plenty of time for excursions such as St. Martin's, or to explore the historic area where the ship docks either by foot or a tour bus / horse drawn trolley.

Check out this local tour. It's really nice. Even though the web site says they stop the tour on Oct. 2, it usually still runs when a ship is in port. Contact them if you are interested and see if the tour will be running when you are there.

We're on the Enchantment of the Seas... The day that we arrive in St John is Oct 11th which is a holiday in Canada, I think. Thanks for the tour info! I'll contact then!

Although your ship may slip into port early - 7:00 AM is the scheduled time. It is the Thanksgiving Day in Canada - however the City Market, local shops and restaurants will be open, along with all the tours/excursions. There are 7200 cruise visitors in port that day on 3 ships so I would plan excursions early if you plan to take any.

saint john transit web site doesn't tell where you meet the bus to get the tickets. Anyone know?

The bus is parked at Loyalist Plaza - 3 blocks from ship. You purchase the tickets from the driver standing outside the bus. Local ambassadors will show you the way if you don't see it.
