Lizcourt Posted June 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I will be traveling with my 80-year old Mom, who finds it difficult to use a ladder to climb out of the pools. On recent cruises, we've noticed that ships have started incorporating one or more pools with stairs, rather than ladders, for entering and exiting the pool. Are any of the pools on the Oasis set up this way?

IdRatherBCruisin Posted June 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Yes, the beach pool does have a slope. However, it was the most crowded out of all of the pools and had the most children. Solarium pool had steps. Didnt see where any of the pools offered handicap accessibility. But, I am thinking that it is required by law and may be found somewhere???? xxoocruiser Posted June 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I believe the Beach Pool has a gradual slope into the pool. RCCL does provide HC accessibility into the pools. One pool and one whirlpool on all RCCL ships is fitted with a Hydraulic Chair .
DEIx15x8 Posted June 23, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2010 The Solarium "pool" (really looks more like a hot tub) is the only one with stairs. The Beach Pool does not actually slope into the pool. It merely slopes where you would normally step over the wall into the shallow water. You must still use a ladder to climb into the physical pool part. Lizcourt Posted June 23, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted June 23, 2010 Thanks for the answers, all. Though Mom would have some trouble with ladders, she's otherwise fit as a fiddle and we would NEVER be able to convince her to use a hydraulic chair, so it looks like its the Solarium pool for us.
