Rare bobmacliberty Posted December 24, 2010 #501 Share Posted December 24, 2010 Another of my "zoomed Christmas Trees." We wish you all a great Christmas. Larry and Maggie (by proxy) I'd love to give that a try. Just click and zoom at the same time?? Second curtain flash??
Rare pierces Posted December 24, 2010 Author #502 Share Posted December 24, 2010 Hey, no photoshp - well some white balancing. Juus Ok. No Photoshop! 15s, ISO200, f/8, +2 stop to fire up the lights with the lens zoomed slowly during the last 3 seconds. Thanks for reminding me of a good old film trick Larry. That was fun! Merry Christmas to all! Dave
Rare pierces Posted December 24, 2010 Author #503 Share Posted December 24, 2010 Almost time to head over to the kid's house. Another hour or so on the smoked prime rib... TheRoff Posted December 24, 2010 #504 Share Posted December 24, 2010 Very nice tree photos Dave and Zak. I like the lighting. The grill photo makes me hungry. Here is ours from a couple of years ago. The whole brisket after about 18 hours. I now have to work on tonight's dinner. Merry Christmas!! Larry
ion-man Posted December 25, 2010 #505 Share Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) Happy Holidays/merry Christmas to all. These pics were taken at a Christmas play we went to yesterday. Thanks to the tips from you folks, I've learned quite a bit. The Roff, love those Christmas tree shots, thanks for including the EXIF data, something new for me to try out. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5086/5290119783_2a68bc1b30_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5290119877_043bfda4f8_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5162/5290723256_1b9806ff36_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5129/5290723360_d2f1264e1b_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5248/5290787164_2dd59de81f_b.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5008/5290184397_6620b82243_b.jpg Been a while since I posted images and can't remember how to quickly add the image links so this is the best I could do, since the edit options do not allow for deleting posts. judynorth Posted December 26, 2010 #511 Share Posted December 26, 2010 This is what greeted us this morning. I know that a lot of you are used to having snow but it is rare enough here (in this quantity at least) that it is beautiful when it comes. judynorth Posted December 27, 2010 #513 Share Posted December 27, 2010 judynorth,I really like that last photo! Thanks! It is a shed in our backyard and it will probably grace our Christmas card next year. By the time the snow stopped there was lots more on it and around it. Dave, love the mountains! zackiedawg Posted December 27, 2010 #515 Share Posted December 27, 2010 The shed is a great shot - very classic wintery scene. I for one am jealous - I wouldn't mind a little snow up close!
judynorth Posted December 27, 2010 #516 Share Posted December 27, 2010 I will more than likely use one of these with a wreath added to the door: As you can see, more snow fell after the original picture was taken.

I really like looking at Judy's all the more. Happy New years all! Larry You barely missed getting hit by this storm. It really is pretty here but my attitude will probably change when I try to get out in it. :( I'm getting ready to post some more pictures on Picasa so you can get another painless snow fix. :D

judynorth Posted December 28, 2010 #521 Share Posted December 28, 2010 this one is amazing, I'll be sitting for hours now trying to get a similiar picture, Thanks Judy ;) Thanks, it was fun trying to catch that drop. After several (many!) tries, I finally set my camera on burst mode and took about 20 pictures before I caught the drop in mid-air. I also used macro mode and snow setting. I actually caught drops twice! I have lots of pictures at the Picasa link below (go to My Photos) including the 2nd drop and some interesting HDR images. zackiedawg Posted December 28, 2010 #522 Share Posted December 28, 2010 Haven't posted any birdies lately, so I figured time to update a few recent catches of the local Florida bird life (Sony A550, Minolta 300mm F4 APo lens): Pied-billed grebe: Purple gallinule: Roseated spoonbill: Great blue heron: Red-bellied woodpecker:

zackiedawg Posted December 29, 2010 #525 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Thank you Judy. Yep, both parks represented, Art! I am usually there at least one day each weekend, usually starting at Green Cay, then over to Wakodahatchee. Simply some of the most amazing bird-spotting locales in all of Florida, if not the U.S. for sheer diversity of species, sheer volume of species, and ridiculous proximity to species!
