jmalstrom Posted February 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Row-uh-tan At least that's how us Texans say it.
mbisson Posted February 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Row-uh-tan At least that's how us Texans say it. That's how the staff pronounced it when we were on the NCL Sun in Dec. I paid attention, cause I was confused also. -Monte

Janett Posted February 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2005 I've heard the locals call it "Rowtan".
SeaPA Posted February 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Most of the natives I know pronounce it "Row-uh-tan" but some say the "Row" part so quickly that it almost comes out "Ruh-tan." And if you fly there via mainland Honduras, the Spanish speaking mainlanders pronunciation sounds more like "Ruh-tahn" (but said VERY quickly, almost as one syllable). ikajus Posted February 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I lived on Roatan for a few months. The pronunciation would be ro-ah-tahn. Hope this helps...
