Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has experience with the romance suite on the Jade or any other NCL ships? What is the difference with this and the Penthouse suite? And where is this romance suite located on the ship?

Any information at all would be great. Thank you

The so-called "Romance Suites" on the Jade are the AD suites in the stern on Deck 10. The interiors are the same as the AE (Penthouse) suites on Decks 8 and 9, which are also in the stern, but the balconies on the ADs are much larger (deeper). I think the ADs got the name "Romance Suite" because there used to be some hokey package with them (strawberries and champagne or something). At any rate, IMHO it's a silly name now.

We were in an AD on the Jade this winter. It was a wonderful suite and the balcony was fantastic, just perfect for a winter cruise in the Mediterranean as it was sheltered from the wind. It was our first aft, and we thoroughtly enjoyed it, but I don't think we became such total "aft lovers" that we feel the need to always be in the aft. (BTW, the bed is a full size, incredibly comfortable queen that does NOT separate into two twins; I think that's the case in the AEs as well.)

On the Jade, there are four romance suites (AD) located aft on deck 10. AE penthouses are located directly below these (4 each on decks 8 and 9). AC penthouses face forward on decks 9 and 10 (4 each). All have butler/concierge service.

Thank you for the info and the pictures. Big help!!!! Just wondering if the room is similar to the Penthouse why is there a 300 to 500 price hike for the Penthouse? Seems sillly if there is the same service.

You may be looking at the "wrong" Penthouse suites. NCL confuses things by calling the AC suites, in the bow on decks 9 and 10, "Penthouses," while ALSO calling the AE suites, in the stern on decks 8 and 9, "Penthouses" as well. [it is the ADs and AEs that are the same except for the larger balconies on the ADs.]

With respect to the AC and AE suites, and the AD "Romance Suites," the ACs are the largest in terms of overall square footage, that is, including the balconies. So if you are looking at the AC "Penthouses," they may well cost more than the AE "Penthouses" and more than the ADs, at least when the pricing for the cruise first comes out, because, overall, they are larger.

(On some cruises, like our winter cruise in the Med, the AC prices really dropped because, with the really cold wind, you might not be able to use the balcony while the ship was underway. In fact, we were offered one at the same price as our AD and we declined for that reason. But on a warm weather cruise, I think it would be fun to try a forward-facing suite, if we could afford it.)
